When Lou Krieger initially began ESCARGOT, it stood for Experimental Southern California Recreational Gaming Outing and Tournament. That was year one. Year two, the “snail” metamorphosis culminated with the E standing for Eternal. Lou, in his infinite wisdom felt that this sounded a bit morose and “funerally” and for the 3rd year, 2001, decided that Extraordinary was the precise and perfect meaning for the E.

Although Lou started this great California event, he would like to give special thanks to Beth Even, Steve Nissman, Ploink, Jerrod and many others who have made this experience so enjoyable.
