The Poker Million was backed by Ladbrokes and they guaranteed the winner approximately $1.45 million, and a total prize pool of one $1.85 million. The main event had a $9000 buy in for a four day event that commenced November 16th 2000.

This drew many top American players to the tiny island of the Isle of Man. This event had more T.V coverage than any poker event in history. It could just be the start of something bigger than any of us could ever imagine.
