NewJane Interviews CockneyKid, Top PSO Finisher in the European Poker Classic at the Grosvernor Victoria in London

NewJane: First, let me congratulate you on your fine finish in the European Poker Classic at the Grosvernor Victoria in London, a PSO LIVE TOUR event. Tell us a little about the qualifying tourney.

CockneyKid: £300 Buy-in at Victoria club London, 198 entered, I played really well till down to last 50, and was chip leader, then I made a couple of bad calls and finally finished 31st. I was annoyed with myself, because I should have gotten to final table at least.

NewJane: Tell us a little about yourself. Where you live, etc. Any interesting facts about your life would be appreciated!

CockneyKid: I live in a small village near Canterbury UK, run a furniture business which is very successful, have a villa in Portugal and divide my time between there and The UK. And frequent visits to Las Vegas.

NewJane: Share with us some of your poker background, such as how long you have played, games of choice, limits you like when you play live, other tourney successes. And anything else about your poker background that you want to tell us.

CockneyKid: Have played poker for 6 or 7 years now, but over the past 3 years since online really took off, I have played a lot. For the most part I play for fun. I bought a seat in this years WSOP main event basically so I could say that I have done it.

NewJane: How long have you been a member of PSO?

CockneyKid: Only a month

NewJane: Where is your favorite place to play poker, both live and tourney action?

CockneyKid: Gotta say Vegas is favourite place to play, but online Bugsy club is best, can always guarantee to sit down at a tourney and know several players. At the larger sites it's not the same.

NewJane: What were some hands you remember, both won and lost?

CockneyKid: Had quad 10s at Victoria club last month, which was exciting.

NewJane: What did you feel was your strength / weakness in the tournament?

CockneyKid: Can't tell you that the other 25 might read this. :

NewJane: If you could play one hand over, which one would it be and why?

CockneyKid: The hand that put me out the WSOP. Had AK, and the flop was AQ5. I called an all-in bet he had made, but he had AQ and I'm out. Hell it still would be tough to lay down though

NewJane: What are some of the differences you see live and online play?

CockneyKid: People are prepared to play reckless online because there is another tourney starting straight away or they are playing several at once, this does not happen at live games, once your out it's home time.

NewJane: What are your feelings about what is going on with poker now, the incredible growth? Do you see it as a positive thing?

CockneyKid: Yes very positive for poker, I believe online play will slow down over the next few years and more card clubs promoting live play will take over.

NewJane: What new poker game are you anxious to learn?

CockneyKid: I know how to play most, but how well I can play them is another matter.

NewJane: What poker books might I find in your home library?

CockneyKid: None. I don't have time to read much, guess I could get one to read on the long flight to Tunica though.

NewJane: If there is anything I didn't ask you that you want to say, now is the time!

CockneyKid: Just wanted to wish the other 25 peeps good luck, although I hope my luck is slightly Better. :

NewJane: Good luck to you at the Grand Final in Tunica, and we will be keeping our eyes on you!!
