NewJane Interviews LisaLisa, Top PSO Finisher at the Legends of Poker event at the Foxwoods Poker ClassicNewJane: Congratulations on your excellent finish at the Live Tour event! Tell us about the event that qualified you for the Live Tour Final tourney next year. Lisalisa: It was the $600 event at Foxwoods. There were about 850 - 900 people I think that started. NewJane: Tell us some interesting facts about your life, such as place of employment, family matters, hobbies, or educational background. Lisalisa: I've been married for 15 years to a great guy. We have two amazing daughters. As far as work goes, I've been an on-again, off-again actress for the past 20 years, I do voice-over work, production work, pretty much any work that I can get. I love to travel to warm places (anywhere with a beach). NewJane: Give us a little glimpse into your poker background. How long have you played? Do you prefer online play or live? Where is your favorite place to play live? Do you like tournaments or ring games? What is your game of choice? Lisalisa: I've been playing poker ever since I was a teenager growing up at the Jersey Shore. My cousins and I would play at barbecues and parties. When I got older we used to have tournaments at my house. We usually played dealer's choice games. I love to play down in Atlantic City (it's not far from where I live). I prefer tournaments. If it were up to me, I'd play NL Texas Hold-em 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (alright, I need some time to be with my family, but I like to play a lot). I do play cash games, but very low, 1/2 no-limit. NewJane: How long have you been a member of PSO? Lisalisa: A few months. A good friend of mine recommended it to me. I thank that friend very much. NewJane: What do you think was your greatest strength in the tourney? Your biggest weakness? Lisalisa: My greatest strength in any tournament is patience. I have lots of patience when it comes to this game. Not much in real life, but plenty in a tournament. My biggest weakness is aggression. There are times when I could and should be much more aggressive. NewJane: Do you remember any key hands you want to tell us about? Positive or Negative outcomes… Lisalisa: I took so long to fill out these questions that I've forgotten them. I remember there was one hand where the guy caught quads and we were like…what. Three came on the board. NewJane: What are some of the differences you notice in online play as opposed to live play? Lisalisa: I think people play much looser online. NewJane: If you could have dinner with any current poker tourney pro, who would it be and what would be the question you would ask first? Lisalisa: Chris Ferguson without a doubt. He just has a presence about him. His focus is amazing. I'd probably ask him specifics about being a pro, i.e. how often do you play, what was your starting bankroll, backers, how much balance between cash games and tournaments, etc. NewJane: What poker books have helped your game? Lisalisa: I've read quite a few. Super System 1&2, Shuffle Up & Deal, Making the Final Table, Harrington's Vol. 1 (have to get Vol. 2), and others. I think you take something away from each and work it into your own style and game. NewJane: What new poker games are you interested in learning? Lisalisa: Someone just told me about a game called "Pineapple" that sounds like craziness. I want to try that. NewJane: Here is your chance to address anything I neglected to ask that you are dying to share. Lisalisa: Just that I'm grateful to PSO and that I love playing poker. Back in December I won my first major tournament. It was a $500 buy-in at the WSOP circuit event in Showboat Atlantic City. I won $47,860.00 and a ring (I'm the only woman to win a ring). It was an amazing two days. And in January, I made it through a field of 1389 people at the Borgata open and made it to the final table. I came in 10th. Again, an amazing two days. I hope I can continue to do well in tournaments and I would love to win a main event title. NewJane: Thanks for taking time to talk with me! Best of luck in the 2007 Live Tour Grand Finale!
