NewJane Interviews MolochMayhem, Won a Seat in the PSO Grand Live Tour FinalNewJane:First, let me congratulate you on your fine finish at the Big One Final table tourney! Your accomplishment has guaranteed you a seat in the PSO LIVE TOUR Final event in Tunica in January. Tell us a little about yourself. Where you live, etc. Any interesting facts about your life would be appreciated! MolochMayhem:I'm happily married to a real ball-breaker and we reside in Portland, OR. We have three kids: Zap, X, and Mr. Green. I am really big into European Black Metal. Socially, I play cards and prefer to socialize with folks who don't talk about poker all the time. NewJane: Share with us some of your poker background, such as how long you have played, games of choice, limits you like when you play live, other tourney successes, anything else about your poker background that you want to share. Molochmayhem: I've been playing poker of some kind since I could understand hand rankings. Admittedly, I jumped on the hold-em' bandwagon about a year ago. Hold em' is now my preferred game. Portland is a big poker town now and it can be hard to find a game with a buy in I can afford. I'm a good player but I'm not a hardcore gambler. NewJane: How long have you been a member of PSO? Molochmayhem: About 6 months NewJane: Where is your favorite place to play poker, both live and tourney action? Molochmayhem: Frankly, I prefer playing in my own dining room because we talk about other things besides pot odds. When I go to casinos I clean up at blackjack. I don't like the blandness of casino poker rooms. I feel like I'm in a prison rec room or something. NewJane: What were some hands you remember from the tourney..both won and lost ? Molochmayhem: I just remember "vorrin" losing to quad 7's to finish 5th place. It was heartbreaking NewJane: What did you feel was your strength / weakness in the tournament? Molochmayhem: My strength is unending patience. My weakness is getting bored. NewJane: If you could play one hand over, which one would it be and why? Molochmayhem: I'm the snobby philosophical type who says every hand won or lost is a learning experience. NewJane: What are some of the differences you see live and online play? Molochmayhem: It's harder for me to play live because I have a lot of nervous energy anyway. I probably have tells I'm not aware of. Sometimes with online poker it just seems like anything goes. I'm no expert but I play well and I get beat by poor players all the time. I know..."wah, wah wah!" NewJane: What are your feelings about what is going on with poker now, the incredible growth? Do you see it as a positive thing? Molochmayhem: For someone who loves to play games of all kinds, it's a godsend. I can find a game any day of the week now. I get annoyed with the pros saying it's impossible to win tournaments consistently because of the mass of people involved. If your game is good, you should win. It's like actors saying what they do is difficult. Tell that to Rin Tin Tin. NewJane: What new poker game are you anxious to learn? MolochMayhem: Strip Omaha hi-lo. NewJane: What poker books might I find in your home library? Molochmayhem: Three Sklansky books. NewJane: Anything I didn't ask you that you want to say, now is the time! MolochMayhem: My eye doctor told me my eyes are perfectly distanced apart. One in 15,000! How about those odds! NewJane: Good luck to you at the playoffs, and I look forward to meeting you in January!
