NewJane Interviews Partaker, Top PSO Finisher at the Annual Turning Stone Classic.I had been looking forward to the live tour at Turning Stone since last years event. It's always great meeting and seeing fellow PSOers, it always gives me confidence and it's nice to see a smiling face in what can be an intimidating environment.I was planning on winning a seat in to the 500+50 buy in, I review the schedule and planned on the games I would make an attempt at. I played in a super sat on Saturday the 13th, $60+5(5for the dealers, you get an extra 300 chips) $20 rebuy for 1000 chips and $40 rebuy for 2000, if you are broke. Starting chips were 1500, the table I was at was very loose, with an UTG player raising 3.5 BB, getting an all-in from UTG+1, followed by an align from UTG+3, and last by a align from a late position player. UTG shows AA, UTG1 shows 10,7c UTg3 shows 56s, and the late shows 10J os. the 56s completed his str on the river. That was pretty much the game the first hour. After the rebuys ended the table tighten and I made it to 30 out of 87, the hand that busted me was K9c in the BB, got a late position limper, flop came 5,K J, I bet out 1/2 pot, got called, the turn was a rag, so I moved in , the player ponders for a while and calls, I turn over my K9 and he turns over 10Jos and says nice hand, I say it's not over yet and the 10 comes on the river. The next attempt was on Thursday night at 7pm, The game was even looser than the previous one, I think some of the people could have payed their way in with the amount of rebuys they took. Pretty uneventful for me, got drawing out on and busted. I went to the poker room, and played in 2 single table shoot out SNGs, $60 winner gets 500 lammer. The first was going really well for me , I was just about even with the chip leader and with 3 left I feel very confident. I was UTG with JJ and raise it 2 XBB SB(chip leader) pushes his stack and I called. AQs vs JJ, he hit his Q on the flop and I went on to the next one. This is were I cracked Franks(Espozono) AA with KK, when a K came on the flop, I had gotten short and at 5 players the SB made a move on me, raising all in with 25os, I called with 10Js and he filled his str on the river. Needless to say I was pretty discouraged, and thankfully Johnny Bravo was there, Ed gave me a pep talk and I left the casino mulling over what we had talked about. I came home and played a SNG on FT and won that, 30+3 buy in, still thinking about my decision to play or not, I went to bed and sleep on it, at 7am I woke up, and still was unsure about playing, feelings of anger started to come through and I said to myself this is it, I'm going over to the casino and laying down the 550, if I bomb out, I'm done, done with poker, that's it. I meet up with Ed and we had breakfast and talked more, we split up so Ed could take care of some business and I head down to the were the PSO booth was. On the way there I checked my voice messages and hear Old Hatters voice, "I'm at the casino" as I got to the front of the Oneida Room, there was Brian(TOO2COO),his wife Susan(MrsToo), and some guy in this very nice hat, as soon as he spoke I knew it was George(old Hatter). Next I meet Ian(Backatyou),Dan(Badco) Gail(ladyfinger22). I saw Ron(runner836)and Frank(Espozono), both I meet the night before. The tournament start at 10am and I was seated at a table, that was busting players fast. A young kid that goes by empire(not sure if that is his full name, but he runs with some guy named Ozzy) on stars was there and several other internet players. I played a few hands bringing them in for raises 2xbb, with position, most folded, but there were two hands that didn't. The first one I had AK in middle position and raise 2xbb , late position caller. I missed the flop and bet 1/2 pot he pushed his stack and I folded. The second one, I was in middle position with AK again the UTG player limped for 100, I reraised 300, isolated him and he called the flop came 8,9,J, he bet out 100, I called the turn was a blank for me , he bet out 500, My first thought maybe he's on A big and missed also, but had the feeling I was looking at 10,Q I fold and he showed that I was right, this helped me alot. A player to my left got knocked out and I look over at the player that was after him. It was the same guy that busted me with AQ vs my JJ in the SNG the night before. I looked at him and said that I did not recognize him without his hat on and had been looking for him, he said "I recognized you" A big hand took place were I was in Cut off, with KK, there was 2 middle position limpers and a late position limper, I raise 5xBB, standard and added the limpers, blinds were 150/75, all called the flop came K xs, xs, it was checked to me and I bet out 1/2 pot, the flush draw scared me, the 2 middle players folded and the late pushed, I called and he flipped over 99, I took down the pot. A few hands later I was in the BB with JJ and the player to my left was short stacked pushed, it folded around to me and I had to laugh, he said the same as last night and I said yes and called, this time JJ vs A6c, I took him out. As the tournament wore on, I used position and my stack to steal blinds, took out a few short stacks, was in trouble and became short myself, but got tripled up when my KK, turned into a K high flush to take it down. At the last break the group of us agreed to take 500 from first, and make 31 in the money, then went on a 45 min break. When we returned nothing really great happened and with increasing blinds and being card dead at a table of big stacks I made some mistakes and payed dearly for them. I busted 22nd on a mistake and I should not have call, but I was getting 3 to 1 on it and after reviewing the hand I should have never been in it. I was in the BB I had about 11k Blinds were 1600/800 with 300 ante about 4500 in dead money, then a push for 16k, a call of that so about 36k in the pot, I am quiet embarrassed to tell this but I called with A10os, very stupid on my part, was hoping not to be dominated but was and that's it. Overall I think I played a good tourney up until the donkey move. The next day I played 3/6 limit and got unlucky and made some mistakes, Old Hatter sat down next to me and we talked and I recover some , One hand for Hatter got a laugh from everybody and showed just how good he is at limit. Hatter had raised the limpers and he got a call behind him, flop Came Axx, hatter bet out and got a caller, turn came A, hatter checked and the guy checked, the river x the guy ask hatter if he's got two pair and hatter says yes I got two pair, hatter bets and the guy calls. Hatter turns over Quad Aces, says black ones and red ones. George is a class act, fun to play with. Well after 8 1/2 hrs of that, I decide to play a sat at 7pm for a seat in the 300+30 tournament that is to be played on Sunday at 10am. I sign up and play limit till 6:30 and go up to see Ed still in the 1000 dollar buy in, doing well. It dawns on me that I should not have signed up for the tournament, because I promised my wife that I would go with her to Sunday morning to look at a truck for the farm. I figure let's see what happens and go from there. We get down to 3 tables out of 12 that started and a guy is razzing the table about being so serious, you guys think your playing for a seat in the Wsop, I tell him I'm playing for a seat and a divorce, cause if I win a seat. A few hands go by and I'm short stacked and look down to see 1010, I push and the guy who was razzing says he is sorry, I tell him he just saved a marriage, he flips over AA against my 1010, flop 233, turn 10, river 10, OMG I bust his AA with quads. I built my stack to 26k and cruise to the final table where players 10 and 9 went out, 8 payed $80 and 7 players got a seat, there were 2 short stacks and I could have blinded into a seat, I call the TD over and asked if I could get a lammer for the seat and he said no, but I could deal, I told the table I would go out 8th take the $80 and the short stacks, luckily I was interrupted by a player and he told the short stacks to give me $100 each and told them it was a great deal, lol I was only going to ask for $50 each, I took 8th and $280 and left with my marriage intact.
