NewJane Interviews Wildbill41, Top PSO Finisher at the World Poker Challenge event in Reno

Wildbill41 is a 3-peat qualifier for the PSO LIVE TOUR. In honor of his wonderful achievement, I have assembled some questions that are suitable for such a world-class poker player who at times roams in our midst.

NewJane: At what point in the tourney could you "smell the money"?

Wildbill41: I am not much of a money sniffer. I very much prefer to spread it on the floor and roll around naked in it. Whether I performed this act in the poker room is left to the readers imagination. (And the eye in the sky video, which may or may not be available at uglynakedguy.com)

NewJane: When you were at the final table, did you think about me, and if so, do you consider those thoughts as a launching pad for your awesome finish? Be specific.

Wildbill41: Truth be told, I did think about you a bit. I wished you were there to lead some cheers. The first thought that went through my head when I busted out was "Newjane would have won with that hand" I kid you not.

NewJane: Do you find it difficult to shove chips into the pot while consuming alcoholic beverages?

Wildbill41: I'm not nearly as think as you drunk I am.

NewJane: If you had a choice of women to stand behind you while you play, whom would you choose and what would you prefer they be wearing? A) Poker tank top b) beer logo wet t-shirt c) matronly polyester pants suit

Wildbill41: How about a posse, all wearing wet matronly tank tops?

NewJane: You seem to have a solid grasp of NLHE. To what do you owe the majority of your success? Can Oil Doe, Zeroth, or Debonair be blamed for any of your positive outcomes?

Wildbill41: OK seriously. I do have a bunch of friends who play a lot of poker. Talking to them about poker has helped my game immensely. In addition to those you mention, include the muzzeys, Sailor Moe, the rest of the CHAPS, and a whole bunch of pokerschoolers who I have met at various events.

NewJane: What single piece of advice would you give a new player if they asked you " How do I manage my poker bankroll".

Wildbill41: Two serious questions in a row? OK, two serious answers in a row. Contrary to all the books and all of the advice out there in the world, I don't really separate my poker bankroll from my entertainment budget. I'm not playing for a living; I'm playing for the fun and to learn. I play for stakes designed to hurt a little bit if I lose, and to allow for a few extravagances if I win. If I intended for poker to be a major source of income, I would of course have to adjust this attitude, but right now I use on-line poker to pay for my liquor and cigarettes, and the occasional live play windfall to give the IRS an excuse to scrutinize me. Thank goodness for those IRS folks forcing me to keep records and spending my money so much more intelligently than I would.

NewJane: If you want to give a shout out to anyone who has been a positive influence on your poker success, now is the time.

Wildbill41: PSO gets most of the credit for teaching me how to play poker tourneys. Playing something over 1000 tourneys in my 4+ years here has managed to teach even a thickheaded individual such as myself a little bit about strategy and tactics. In addition I have made a group of close friends, which almost renders the poker-playing end of the site moot.

NewJane: Thanks for taking time out of your active dating life to answer some questions!

Wildbill41: Active dating life? You seem to have me confused with someone else. If PSO starts a dating site on the side, I will be amongst the first to sign up. Until that happens I am stuck trying to find a single woman who can stand to hang around with a guy who attempts to compensate for his lack of movie star looks with nerdiness and a foul odor. Not very successfully, he adds.
