Scotty Nguyen the 1998 World Champion added a WPT event to his long list of major poker tournament wins tonight. Scotty, from Henderson NV won $969,421 after defeating Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi heads up at the 2006 World Poker Open Championship event. Gregg Merkow is on an absolute tear! He just won the January 7th $500 NLHE Tournament which is part of the WSOP Circuit held at The Grand Casino in Tunica Mississippi. Last summer he also won the $10,000 championship Circuit Event. Today Gregg takes down Event 7 of the World Poker Open winning $107,635 as well as a $10,200 entry into the WPT Championship Event, plus the gorgeous gold and diamond WPO bracelet.;

Jeremy Phipps of Dayton, Ohio captured the win in the $1000 No Limit Hold'em Event here at the World Poker Open in Tunica Mississippi. After a deal with six players remaining, Jeremy took home $62,586 along with the bracelet and an entry into the $10,000 WPT Championship. Hoe Puan from Puchong Malaysia won Event 2 tonight at the World Poker Open at the Gold Strike in Tunica MS. Hoe won $75,368 and his first WPO gold bracelet. Raul Paez from Spain just failed to win his second WPO bracelet when he finished 3rd.
