World Poker Tour History

World Poker Tour - Introducing the world to poker.

For years, poker players had to grudgingly live with the myth that poker just wouldn't make it in the entertainment industry. It certainly wouldn't make it as a regular TV program. But that never stopped the poker world from trying. Poker Nite Live, ESPN's WSOP coverage, PokerPages.com video & audio events and many others have time and again proved that poker as a spectator sport can be very successful.

Now enters the World Poker Tour, the Travel Channels number #1 success story of last year. This runaway show has Americans all over the United States tuning in to watch as real poker champions battle for millions across a green felt table. At every real casino poker event, the WPT crew is there to film the final table. With their commentary, interviews and wit, they make the game of poker come alive for millions of fans. The thrill of watching for the first time the skill behind the players has earned poker players around the world real respect. New heroes have been made. New dreams have formed as viewers troop off to the card rooms, not only to play but just to say they've been there. They've done it.

The WPT is currently in its second season and is still going strong. You can follow along here on PokerPages with our full schedules, reports, interviews and stories of the events that the WPT will be visiting.
