May 18 2001 at 12:00 PM Carlos Mortensen from Madrid, Spain is the new World Champion, taking home $1.5 million! Dewey Tomko finished second and Stan Schrier third. Carlos has reached three final tables this year and won them all!! |

Event #27: No Limit Texas Hold 'em Championship Event (Day 4)
May 17 2001 at 12:00 PM Henry Nowakowski from Gemany retains the chip lead through day 4 and leads the final nine players into the final day. Henry won a $900,000 pot when his pair sixes stood up against Daniel Negreanu's A,K. His chip count is $1,076,000. |

Event #27: No Limit Texas Hold 'em Championship Event (Day 3)
May 16 2001 at 12:00 PM Henry NowaKowski from Europe leads the field into day four of the WSOP. Henry has $351,000 in chips. Forty five players remain and they are all in the money. Stan Schrier is second with $337,500 and Phil Hellmuth third with $310,500. |

Event #23: Omaha Hi/Lo Split
May 11 2001 at 12:00 PM In around three hours of top class poker between Scotty Nguyen and Phil Hellmuth, Scotty literally brought Phil to his knees. Scotty won the Omaha Hi/Lo $5,000 buy in and the hearts of the crowd along with the $207,580 first prize and his second gold bracelet at this years WSOP. |

Event #22: No Limit Texas Hold 'em
May 9 2001 at 12:00 PM Wow!!! It does not get any better than this. Erik Seidel came back from a 7/1 chip disadvantage to beat Johnny Chan heads up and win the $3,000 buy in No Limit Holdem event at the WSOP at Binions Horseshoe. He won $411,300 and his 5th gold bracelet. Video to follow. |
