WSOP Winner Event #33 No Limit Hold 'Em World Championship (Day 5)

Greg Raymer leads the field at the 2004 WSOP after day 5. Greg has $1,807,000 and is followed by Dan Harrington $1,536,000 and Davin Anderson $1,436,000. Play resumes at noon today with 32 remaining players. Current prize money is $80,000 and that jumps up to $120,000 for 27th spot.

WSOP Winner Event #33 No Limit Hold 'Em World Championship (Day 4)

John Murphy is chip leader at the end of Day 4 in the 2004 WSOP. John, just 21 years old has $765,000 with Josh Arieh in second place with $754,000. 83 players remain going into day 5. Mattias Andersson and Des Portano (Pokershool members) each have around $500,000.

Players are now having the official chip count in the upstairs tournament room. It looks as though Eddie Scharf from Germany will be chip leader with around $300,000. Around 275 players remain after day 3. Seat asignments and official chip counts will be available as soon as they are in.

WSOP Winner Media Charity Event

The Media event was won by Michael Kaplin. He awarded $10,000 charity money to his daughters nursery school. The press conference saw literally hundreds of the world's press turn out to witness the beginning of the biggest poker event in history. Already over 2,200 players are paid up for the main event. There are lines almost leading out of the building at the Horseshoe. The current cap on players is 2600 and there will surely be a shutout for this most prestigious poker event in history. The 2004 WSOP is about to begin.

Super satellites had to be suspended last night as all seats are sold out for the 2004 WSOP. 2600 players will start the event with a record breaking $26M prizepool.

World Series of Poker latest- On coming back 3 handed for day 3 for the first time in WSOP history, Mike Sica from New Jersey won event #30 ($3,000 NLHE). Mike won $500,160 and a coveted WSOP gold bracelet. John Kabbaj from London finished 2nd and Ram Vaswani , also from London 3rd.

World Series of Poker latest- Ted Forrest from Las Vegas moved one step closer tonight to creating poker history. He won event 23 ($1,500 No Limit Holdem) and his second WSOP bracelet this year. With this $300,000 win Ted now needs one more bracelet this year to become the first ever poker player to win 3 bracelets in a year twice. 11 years ago Ted won 3 events but the fields today are so much bigger today and if Ted could win that 3rd this year it may be a record never repeated.

World Series of Poker 2004 latest- Daniel Negreanu from Las Vegas lifted his 3rd WSOP gold bracelet tonight in event #15 ($2,000 buyin Limit Holdem) and added $169,100 to his bankroll. Daniel controlled the table from very early and never looked like finishing anywhere but top position. His confidence makes me think that this will not be the only success he has at this years WSOP. World Series of Poker 2004 Latest- Tonight at the WSOP 23 year old Thomas Keller from Phoenix AZ won event #13 ($5,000 buyin No Limit Holdem) after starting out as chip leader. This means that in the last 5 days, no less than 3 Gold Bracelets have been won by 23 year old players. I am sure that is a record. Thomas takes home $382,020 and his first WSOP gold bracelet.

WSOP Winner Event #12 H.O.R.S.E.

WSOP Winner Event #11 Limit Hold 'Em

World Series of Poker 2004 - Eli Balas from Las Vegas won event #11 ($2,500 buyin Limit Holdem) at the WSOP tonight. Eli won $174,440 and his 3rd WSOP gold bracelet. He started out in 4th chip position but soon took the chip lead, eventually beating Steven Shkolnik into second place. Eli also became the 35th poker player in history to top the $1M mark in lifetime WSOP earnings.

WSOP Winner Event #10 7-Card Stud Hi/Lo

After 4 hours of heads up play, Cyndy Violette finally beat 80 year old Pete Kaufman for the title in event #10 at the WSOP. Cyndy won her first WSOP title by winning the $2,000 buyin 7 card stud Hilo Split and took home a well earned $135,900 and most importantly that coveted WSOP gold bracelet.

WSOP Winner Event #9 No Limit Hold 'Em

Scott Fischman from Las Vegas won event #9 at the WSOP tonight. Scott played great poker all night but needed to get lucky in the penultimate hand to almost knock out Joe Awata and one hand later it was all over. Chau Giang, a high stakes ring game player from Las Vegas won event 8 tonight at the WSOP. Chiang, came back from a 5-1 chip deficit to beat Robert Williamson in the heads up of the Pot Limit Omaha event. Chiang added $187,920 to his bankroll and a 3rd WSOP gold bracelet.

WSOP Winner Event #7 No-Limit Hold 'Em

Gerry Drehobl from Spokane, WA won event #7 ($1,000 buyin No Limit Holdem with rebuys) at the WSOP tonight. Gerry has been playing poker for 6 months! The final table lasted 8 hours and Gerry beat a final table that included 5 of the worlds top 100 players. $365,900 and a WSOP gold bracelet were his rewards for this remarkable victory.

WSOP Winner Event #6 Pot Limit Hold 'Em

Minh Nguyen from Spokane, WA played perfectly to come back from a big chip deficit against Lorne Persons to win event 6 at the WSOP in Las Vegas. Minh won his 2nd WSOP Gold Bracelet and $155,420. This was the fastest final table of this years WSOP so far, taking just 4 hours and 15 minutes. Final table video now available.

Aaron Katz from Los Angeles put on a fantastic display of poker to win event 4 ($1,500 buyin Limit Holdem) at the 2004 WSOP tonight. Aaron grabbed the chip lead with 4 players left and proceded to dominate the table from then on. Aaron won $234,940 and his 1st WSOP Gold Bracelet.

WSOP Winner Event #3 7-Card Stud

James Vogl from London took down the second event at the WSOP tonight and $400,000. James was here on his first trip to Las Vegas and the WSOP. Shawn Rice from Lubbock Texas was second for $213,000.

WSOP Winner Event #1 Casino Employee's Event

The 2004 WSOP is under way. Event 1 was won by Carl Nessel and was good for $40,000. Carl beat 278 Casino Employees to win the first of the new style World Series of Poker gold bracelets. 1000 players are expected for event 2 the $2,000 buyin No Limit Holdem. The worlds top poker players will all be here to take a shot at the expected $2,000,000 prizepool.
