World Series of Poker - 2000

Chris Ferguson Event #25: World Championship - No Limit Hold 'em (Day 1) Event
May 18, 2000 at 12:00 PM
In one of the most dramatic finishes in World Series of Poker history, like a home run in the bottom of the 9th inning of the seventh game, it was a nine on the last card of the last hand that won the Championship for Chris Ferguson.

Howard 'Bubba' Lederer Event #21: $5000 Limit Omaha Hi-Low Split
May 13, 2000 at 4:00 PM
It wasn't the last hand that got Howard 'Bubba' Lederer his first bracelet on his 13th Final Table, it was the hand before the last one. This was The Kid, 24-year-old Allen Cunningham's first Final Table and he took the chip lead briefly at one point. But a failed nut nut draw nearly wiped him out. Then all-in before the flop, a nut low draw and a double belly-buster failed to hit for Cunningham and Howard Lederer finally got his bracelet on the 13th try.

Huck Seed Event #17: $1500 Razz
May 9, 2000 at 4:00 PM
Huck Seed is a formidable poker player. He sits bolt upright like Phil Hellmuth does. And even sitting, they both tower over the table at 6' 7". But what adds malice to Seed is that he hardly ever speaks. He looks like the grim reaper come to release you from your chips. It's hard to believe it's been four years since Huck won the World Championship and harder to believe this is his first gold bracelet since.

Diego Cordovez Event #8: $2000 No Limit Hold 'em
May 1, 2000 at 4:00 PM
Head up with a 4-3 lead this looked like no contest for the Devilfish. He'd just put Cordovez away and we could all go home. Over and over Ulliott would take a commanding chip lead with his aggressive style only to have Cordovez come back in one hand. Finally, it was Ulliott who asked for a split of the remaining prize pool. Diego Cordovez had won the respect of the Devilfish. Next he won all the chips.

April 25, 2000 at 4:00 PM
When all the others fell by the wayside, it was Tony Ma who prevailed. At the start of heads up play with Roman Abinsay, Tony was down 3-1 in chips, but the outcome seemed inevitable.
