GOLD STRIKE POKER ROOM IS MOVIN' ON UP
TUNICA, Miss. - Gold Strike Casino Resort proudly announces the opening of a new and improved eight-table poker room.
Gold Strike's original five-table poker room closed its doors late on Sunday, June 16, 2002. Within 48 hours, the new, eight-table poker room was open and in full-swing. Located on the second floor of the casino, Gold Strike can now boast an entire floor dedicated to the game of poker. With eight live poker tables and approximately 70 video poker machines, poker fans are finding the second floor quite welcoming.
According to Poker Room Manager Ronald "Pepper" Munsey, "The guests absolutely love it. We moved upstairs to make for a better experience for our poker players and it is really paying off," Munsey adds, "With eight tables instead of five, we can accommodate more players and even when the tables are full, the wait is greatly decreased."
To accompany the other new conveniences, the poker room is also non-smoking. Although it's the first of its kind in Tunica, Gold Strike's poker room is actually following a trend in the poker industry, "The Jack Binion World Poker Open and the World Series of Poker, two of the biggest tournaments in the country, are both non-smoking, " says Munsey. "A non-smoking room is just another courtesy to our customers, however, we know that a lot of poker players still smoke and may do so just ten feet away at the video poker machines."

Gold Strike offers Omaha, Texas Hold 'Em and Seven-Card Stud and will spread anywhere from 1-5 limit to pot limit, including triple draw low ball. The poker room offers a high-hand bonus, as well as daily tournaments including a Texas Hold 'Em Tournament for both beginners and seasoned poker players and bi-weekly tournaments such as No Limit Seven-Card Stud Heads-Up Single Elimination, Omaha Hi-Lo Split Eight or Better and No Limit Texas Hold 'Em Heads-Up Single Elimination.
