Chris Moneymaker to Play World Series of Poker Qualifying Tournament

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (April 22, 2004)-Chris Moneymaker, the 2003 World Series of Poker (WSOP) champion will be at Harrah's Council Bluffs on Sunday, April 25 to play in a qualifying tournament held in conjunction with Harrah's World Series of Poker Giveaway and the recent opening of Harrah's poker room.

The festivities kick off on Sunday when Moneymaker will sign autographs on the ramp to the boat from 12 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. A drawing will be held at 12:30 p.m. on the boat, where nine lucky customers will win the chance to participate in a poker tournament with Moneymaker beginning at 1 p.m. in Harrah's Poker Room. The grand prizewinner of the tournament will win a $10,000 entry fee to the World Series of Poker at Binion's Horseshoe Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas and hotel and airfare compliments of Harrah's Council Bluffs. The nine other finalists will receive a cash prize based on their final placement. Guests must be present to win.

Appropriately nicknamed "Money," 28 year-old Moneymaker, an accountant for a restaurant, lives in Tennessee with his wife and daughter. Moneymaker gained his fame bluffing his way through the majority of the tournament, winning $2.5 million and the coveted championship bracelet.

Harrah's launched its World Series of Poker Giveaway on Sunday, April 4 in conjunction with the Poker Room Grand Opening. Guests can receive entries based on their table play from April 4 through April 25. Harrah's Poker Room is located on the upper deck of the boat. The Poker Room is open Sunday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 2 a.m. Games include Omaha 7-Card Stud, Texas Hold 'em and more. Blackjack replaces live poker in this area Thursday through Saturday featuring the Thursday night "Party Pit" for extra fun!
