THE THIRD ANNUAL JACK BINION WORLD POKER OPEN -- More Rooms
(TUNICA, Mississippi; November 19, 2001.) - Horseshoe Casino & Hotel and Gold Strike Casino Resort in Tunica, Mississippi began accepting room reservations on July 9, 2001 for the Third Annual Jack Binion World Poker Open. "We were well ahead of last year's pace prior to the tragic events of September 11," stated Randy Roberts, General Manager of Gold Strike Casino Resort.
"Apparently, poker players are taking President Bush's directive to heart because the room reservation volume over the last month has been surprisingly strong. Perhaps this upsurge has been aided by our recent decision to go non-smoking in the tournament area. Regardless, I've increased the player's block at Gold Strike by 125 rooms."
Ronald "Pepper" Munsey, Gold Strike Poker Room Manager added, "Some of the peak dates were already getting full. This brings the total rooms for players at the Horseshoe and Gold Strike to 875. That's 250 more rooms than we had last year. Ken (Horseshoe Poker Room Manager, Ken Lambert, Jr.) and I really appreciate the support of upper management."
The Third Annual Jack Binion World Poker Open, directed by Jim Albrecht, will be held January 5, 2002 through January 26, 2002. Room rates for confirmed World Poker Open participants are $29.
