Tournament of Champions Ended

Tournament of Champions announces with regret that the Tournament of Champions of Poker will be ended.
After three years of efforts, substantial investment, and the year-round work of Mike Sexton and Chuck Humphrey, it has become apparent that this event cannot attract significant corporate sponsorship. Without that the event cannot become profitable. The owners of TOC are not willing to make the additional investment needed to allow the event to continue as in the past.
TOC expresses its sincere thanks to the Orleans Hotel and Casino, which has been very supportive. In particular, Mike Vento and his fellow members of the poker staff at the Orleans have contributed their very best efforts to make the events that have been held among the best run and best attended in the world of poker.
Chuck Humphrey, the principal owner of TOC, also extends his personal thanks to Linda Johnson, David Lamb and Jenny Kaye for their great support and assistance in the 2001 event. Chuck also said "I am greatly indebted to Mark and Tina Napolitano of PokerPages for their selfless help in administering the TOC this past year."
On request, players with pre-paid seats for the 2002 TOC will receive prompt refunds from the cardrooms where they earned their seats.
