Local Pro Jeff Rine Takes Down the Pot Limit Omaha

The final table of the Pot Limit Omaha began at 6:00 with five players remaining. The blinds were $200-$400 with 48 minutes remaining.

Chad Layne, from Las Vegas, was leading the pack with $28,500, O’Neil Longson, also from Las Vegas was in second with $24,500, Joe Beevers, a Hendonmob member, was in third place, Jeff Rine, another Las Vagan, was in fourth with $10,600, and Adrian Toms, from Pattya, Thailand, was in last place with $7,200.

At 6:20 Joe Beevers put his remaining $6,000 into the pot holding A-Q-Q-8 against Chad Layne’s A-Qs-Js-9. The board came A-4s-2s-10s-6 and Chad made his spade flush sending Joe to the rail in 5th place with $2,970.

At 6:50 the blinds rose to $300-$600.

At 7:10 Adrian Toms sent in the last of his chips with A-J-10-5 against Jeff’s A-A-4-4. The board came Q-10-6-4-3 and Adrian was sent home in 4th place with $3,630.

At 8:00 Chad Layne put the balance of his chips in with 10-5-3-6 against Jeff holding 9-6-A-5. Jeff rivered his straight sending Chad to collect $4,945 for his 3rd place finish.

At heads-up Jeff Rine was the chip leader with $81,600 and O’Neil Longson was in second with $32,600.

Jeff offered O’Neil a deal and the tournament ended with O’Neil taking second place and $9,725.

This was O’Neil’s second appearance at a final table, he took a 4th in the $540 Omaha 8-or-better on Saturday, September 11.

Twenty-nine year old Jeff Rine, today’s winner is a professional poker player from Las Vegas. Jeff placed 2nd in the Pot Limit Omaha at the Beliagio in April and took a 4th place in the No-Limit Shootout at the World Series of Poker. Jeff was declared the winner of the Pot Limit Omaha and added $11,710 to his poker bankroll.
