All That Glitters is Gold:
Jill Gold Wins Ladies Championship
Jill Gold won her first major poker tournament, defeating a World Series of Poker Circuit record field of 286 players at the Harrah's New Orleans L.I.P.S. championship. Gold came to the final table as one of the lowest players in chips and blasted through nine finalists en route to a nice payday of $17,729. Abbe Garfinkez, from nearby Mandeville, LA was the runner up.
Gold was delighted with her victory. She was awarded a crystal trophy and a beautiful gold pendant, given to each winner of the special 'ladies only' invitational. Gold's victory was all the more impressive, as she defeated several very strong players, including Nani Dollison - a three-time WSOP gold bracelet winner.
Each World Series of Poker Circuit event stop hosts a special ladies tournament called L.I.P.S., in which the buy-in is $200 and the game is No-Limit Hold'em.
Jill Gold was actually visiting New Orleans on business and decided to come and play in this tournament. She is a mother of a 3-year-old and a 10-month old. She plays regularly at the Hard Rock Casino, near her home in South Florida.
