No alimony payments come out of this stash...Frank this is all yours, free and clear and the gold watch is yours to commemorate this event. This was a cinderella story for Frank Leeser as he entered the final 3 tables with $2500 in chips.
He started playing casino poker about 8 years ago, and was weaned into poker by his dad. Playing tournamnets for the last 3 years, Frank placed in the money in 7 out of 12 events last year, but this is his first big victory of this millennium, and it happened here at the United States Poker Championship at the Trump Taj Mahal.
Frank said he wanted to thank his friends for the advice which helped him through the final table.
"Che cosa fa da bella oggi? Luigi Grilla will tell you that he spent his day playing seven card stud, the second event of the US Poker Championship. This native of Napoli took second place in the event, taking home $16,131. This retired contractor resides in Florida and visits us often at "The Taj" to play poker. Luigi, by the way....... who did you vote for?
Two packs of Starbursts are gone, Marina's at the final table, her appearance is very calm and collected. She's all in for the third time... and she survives! There are no more Starbursts, but she takes the 3rd place finish in her second career tournament. She asks, "do I get cash?" Yes, Marina, $8,065.
The 4th place finisher bit his tongue when he described how heis split sevens turned into kings and sevens, losing to a full house. Sam Grizzle, a retired businessman was not truly upset though, because he said in jest, that he would have gotten knocked out a lot earlier, except that he did just the opposite of what "Slade" said!
This was the second of seventeen tournaments in this years United States Poker Championship. The big stud event will take place on Sunday December 10th where the buy in will be $4,100. Right now the live action is very top heavy with 7 card stud, with at least 10 games running, ranging from 5-10 up to 150-300.
There are single table satellites running with buy ins ranging from $65 up to $120. No single tables yet for the main event , the $7,500 buy in Championship event No Limit Hold 'em. There are 2 daily super satellites, one for the stud main event and one for the championship event. |
