STP, "she's got the poker edge", high performance, and what a performance at that. Saundra Taylor P, for power, is strictly an Omaha High/Low split player. She began playing poker in Maryland and followed the action to Atlantic City. Working as a developer for new computer systems, Saundra has excelled in a tough field, just like that of today's Omaha High/Low Split event.
History was made here at the USPC, not only is Saundra the first woman to win the Omaha High/Low Split event, but she took all the chips from Men "The Master" Nguyen, owner of 3 Taj Watches, 4 World Series Watches and 4 Hall of Fame watches. You go girl!!
This is truly a dream come true for Saundra, whose only advice to women players is "be strong". When the audience was prompted for a show of hands to indicate their favorite, the gauge fell towards Saundra...and that was the final answer. (A little nudge with the elbow goes to the ribs of all the men, who, just last week said she was just lucky)>
And John, you've been a good coach.
After 6 month in a refugee camp, Men arrived in this country in 1977, at the age of 22, with no knowledge of the English Language and no money.
Many hours of the day were spent in school to learn English, then he'd go to work. Men opened 2 businesses which he later sold in order to concentrate on poker. He began teaching students the game, hence the name "Master".
In 1977, he and his strudent participated in the USPC, where his student finished as the best-all-around player and Men second best. Yes, a true Master.
What more can be said of Men, which has not already been said or written. The masses truly enjoyed the entertainment at the final table. Men gracioulsly finished 2nd, and humbly stated how happy he was, not only to see a woman win this event, but how exciting it was that she beat the "Master".
This was the eighth of seventeen tournament events that will take place over a consectutive 19 day period. All tournaments will begin and end on the same day, with the exception of the Championship (No Limit) Hold 'em event, which will culminate on December 15th, with the crowning of the new USPC Champion.
We wish a pleasant experience and Good Luck to all participants. |
