Tournament Report

No expletives tonight, (*#@!), it was all superlatives for Men, the "Master," as he employed all his finesse in turning $1,000 in chips a the 2nd level into a 1st place, $42,000 payout for this Stud event.

His spectrum begins with yellow, his lucky color, fades into a bold and powerful red, and ends with green, the color of money. Men, you wear your colors well.

Jan Chan had a gut feeling today that he was going to win this tournament, so he called his wife earlier to get his social security number ready.

A businessman from Princeton, NJ, he started playing poker on the kitchen table. Yes, he does have 3 children and yes, okay, they all graduated from Harvard, but hey, can any one of them say that they won a championship stud event at the World Series, like their dad? Jan is living proof, you don't grow on fear.

Finishing 2nd in today's Stud event, Jan took home $21,000, and no prerequisites were required.

The final table was tough, the field was very strong, but Michael Sukonik (Shag) finished 3rd. Today's event included an added level of play, and Shag was pleased because "it allowed the players a chance to play, which eliminated some of the luck factor."

Shag is also a businessman, from the Philadelphia area. An experienced tournament player, Shag won the $1000 No-Limit Hold 'em event last year at the USPC and he won the Pot Limit Omaha event at the Hall of Fame.

With credentials too numerous to mention, Shag, feel free to take it from here...

This was the eleventh of seventeen tournament events that will take place over a consecutive 19 day period.

Super satellites will be held on a daily basis to give players an opportunity for a seat in the championship events of Seven Card Stud and No-Limit Hold 'em.
