Tournament Report
This report was entered live from the Taj Mahal by Mark Napolitano. Also available:
1.30am- I would like to thank Tommy Gitto for setting me up today in the middle of the action. We are just about to finish for the day and at this time we have 35 players left. The final chip count will be above this final post tonight before I go to sleep. With much fewer players starting tomorrow, I will concentrate on detailed hand descriptions. I will also post a lot more photo's tomorrow..... Later
1.00am-Now playing $50 ante and $200 and $400 blinds. 40 players left, 18 will finish in the money.
12.30am-I am sitting with Chris Grigorian who has been sitting behind Tony Ma, his best friend all evening. Chris has had many money finishes in tournaments in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. This is his first trip to Atlantic City. He accompanied Tony Ma for GOOD LUCK!! It seems to be working , Tony has just gone chip leader with around $45k.
11.50pm-Just reached the fourth break and we are now down to 54 players. We now have four players sharing the chip lead. Tony Ma, Hasan Habib, Sam Grizzle and Mark Wilds, all with around $40,000. Players out T.J and Men.
11.15pm-Daniel Negreanu was just busted out by Mark Wilds. He flopped trip 7's and busted Daniel for about $13,000. The very next hand he busted another player when he flopped trip 4's. We now have a clear chip leader... Mark Wilds with around $45,000.
10.45pm-Just started the fourth round , 25 ante $100 and $200 blinds. Down to seven tables. 63 players. Phil Hellmuth is out. Still nobody taking a decisive chip lead. I just watched T.J move in for $3500 with KQ clubs and he caught a king on the river. Back up to around $8,000. Current chip leader Sam Grizle with $30k. Mickey Applemans just moved into position. He now has $23k. Steve Kaufman $25k, Ken Goldstein $22k. Mike Sexton around $10k. Ian Dobson $23k, Young Van Phan $20k
10.00pm-70 players still in , no significant hands for last 45 minutes. Chip positions as follows: Sam Grizle $25k, Steve Kaufman $23k, Daniel Negreanu $23k, Surinder Sunar $21k, Hemish Shah $20k, Melissa Hayden $20k, Ian Dobson $19k, Alan Cunningham $18k. Other players still in... Scotty, Men, Tony Ma, John Bonnetti, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, Erik Seidel, T.J, Kathy Liebert.
9.15pm-Men "The Master" just ousted Ronnie Stanley when he "missread" his hand. Those are his words not mine. He called $1500 when the flop was k,10,8 holding 7,j. He called thinking he had a double gut shot draw when in fact he only had a gutshot. Ronnie had k,10 and moved in when a 9 came on the turn. Of course Men called the all in bet and when the 7 came on the river Ronnie was left stunned and out of the tournament. Men now has around $20,000. The blinds are now $100 and $200.
Other chip counts.... Maureen now has only about $12,000, Surinder Sunar just doubled up and has around $20,000, Ian Dobson $20,000, Sam Grizzle around $20,000, and Melissa Hayden $22,000. There is no significant chip leader at this stage.

Maureen Feduniak |

Ian Dobson |
7.35pm
Chip leader at the dinner break Maureen Feduniak and 3rd place finisher in the Poker Million Ian Dobson. Leading chip counts at the dinner break are as follows: Maureen Feduniak $27,000, Sam Grizzle $26,000, John Farley $23,000, Steve Kaufman $20,000, Daniel Negreanu $20,000, Hemish Shah $20,000 and T.J around $17,000. 1 Hour dinner break.
6.55pm- The blinds are now $50-$100 and we now have 96 players. Chip leader is still Maureen Feduniak with around $27,000. She seems to have a chip lead of around $7,000. Players on $20,000 include, Daniel Negreanu, John Farley and Sam Grizzle.
6.10pm- First 90 minutes over and I must correct the entries. The official number of entrants are 106.
The winner will receive $318,000. I have been watching Phil Hellmuth in action and he is having a few problems. I first saw him lay down a hand, where he was shown the bluff with a 2,3 off. Just moments later he called a $2200 bet made by Ronnie Stanley on the river when there were four spades on the board including the Ace and Ronnie turned over the nuts with KK including the King of Spades. Maureen Feduniak is chip leader with around $30,000 after winning a 3 way all in pot with KK. This seems to be the KK tournament so far, with lots of key pots being won with KK. As the field starts to thin out I will be able to keep a better track of the event. This is my first try at this but I can assure you I will be an expert by Friday :-)
5.00pm- Hi everyone, well they are now under way. 109 entries so far although they are allowing anyone to still pay on and enter up until the first break(90 minutes) and one very big piece of news already..... Daniel Negreanu is chip leader! He doubled up when he picked off Jim Bucci's all-in bluff on the river when Jim held AQ and Daniel had KK. The very next hand he had four sixes but for much less action. So one out and the defending Champ ahead of the field.
I will be setting up downstairs now and will be in amongst the action for the rest of the 3 days. Later. |
