Main Event - Day Three Reports

Ace Speaks From Deauville - EPT Update No. 16

Its Good Morning to you from Deauville. The stage for tomorrows final table is being set right now, and in an unusually peaceful cardroom the final 18 players have started - but not in a very peaceful manner. Right from the get-go, we had Justin Bonomo moving all-in (uncalled), and this was the sign of an unparalleled sequence of events. We first lost Melanie Lofthouse, who was on the button with A8, thinking it might be good, but Mark Ristine had waited for her, holding AK in early position. (Actually, she had one chip left, but lost that on the immediate next hand.) And then it seemed everybody wanted to get all the chips in. On the other table, Bob Coombes raised Brandons 10,000 to 30,000, then Tony Kendall reraised all-in to 75,500, then small blind Eric Vandenburg moved all-in to 119,000 from the small blind, and then Bob called all-in! The hands: Bob KK, Tony AT and Eric AQ. No surprises: A board with all small cards busted out two players, and moved Bob into a more than comfortable lead - in fact, he may be well on his way to winning the tourney! Right after that hand, we all ran to the second table, where Jerome Zerbib had gotten into trouble with A8 against Jeremy Tuckman, who gleefully turned over his aces. No help for the eccentric Frenchman, Tuckmans rockets holding up. Then the excellent Peter Dalhuijsen lost 85% of his stack, getting all his money in preflop against the same Tuckmans AJ - but the board T879x broke the Dutchmanâ??s heart, giving his opponent a straight. Just a few hands later, it was all over for my webmaster, who had been playing so well. And as I am sending this piece over, Luca Pagano has made a massive step forward, having his QQ holding up against the Big Slick of chip leader Bob Coombes, and the Italian now has 240,000. Also, our chip leader at the end of day 1, Sam Orams, is on the verge of exit, losing a chunk of money with the better hand: AhJh vs. KhTh. But Torbey Sami managed to make a straight and doubled up to 140,000. Finally, Willie Tann has doubled up to 120,000 with AQ suited against Marks king-jack offsuit. Until the next all-in, I say: Bye guys - well talk later.

Exits:
18. Melanie Lofthouse
17. Tony Kendall
16. Eric Vandenburg
15. Jerome Zerbib
14. Peter Dalhuijsen

Ace Speaks From Deauville - EPT Update No. 17

The Deauville Craziness goes on and on, guys. Willie Tann and Mark Ristine decided to exchange some chips back and forth, the only thing was that Willie would not make this trade without having the best hand. He doubled up to 120,000 with AQ vs. KJ, but then lost all of the chips he had won with AK vs. Q6, when a six flopped, an ace turned, and another six rivered! (Willie is down to 40,000 now.) Talk about craziness: Peter Eichhardt has just won a massive pot with JJ against Lucas AJ of diamonds. Peter had raised, Luca had reraise and when Peter came over the top it was too late for Luca to back down. The Swede now is in very good shape, but Luca is also still in contention, and he has proved in the past couple of days that he is capable of handling a short stack well. At the same table, real gentleman Brandon Schaeffer lost over 60,000 with Big Slick against Carl Olsons pocket tens. So, lots of chip movement here in Deauville. As I am writing this, Mark Ristine has had his kings cracked by tens, a ten on the flop, doubling up Jeremy Tuckman to 180,000. And then on the immediate next hand, Mark had A3 of diamonds and he gave the excellent Willie too much action - but got away with it once again. Willie had tens but an ace an the flop, with yet another underdog drawing out. In fact, it is suggested that maybe most guys may have had a bit too much to drink today, as -believe it or not- *all* action I have described today has taken place well within the hour!

Exits:
13: Willie Tann

Ace Speaks From Deauville - EPT Update No. 18

Guys, in all the excitement and confusion I missed the exit of no less than two players. Both Sam Orams and Mike Lacey had been quite shortstacked and have just busted, just before Willie Tanns exit actually. So, the correct figures are:

13. Sam Orams
12. Mike Lacey
11. Willie Tann

Right now, weve got one final table of 10 players, and we will play down until the final eight - who will all play on the Televised Table tomorrow.

Ace Speaks From Deauville - EPT Update No. 19

The Camel is out! Our chip leader from the entire second day had suffered a bit adversity of the end of the second day, and today these problems just became bigger. He lost a big pot against Carl Olson with 77 against the young mans ace-jack, who improved by catching both an ace and a jack. With just a few chips left, he went all-in with an ace-six, and went out in tenth place when Brandonâ??s king-ten rivered the nut straight. Right after that, the action for today could have been over, but in a big pot Mark Ristines AJ held up. Peter Eichhardt could afford to gamble a bit with his king-ten because of his fairly large stack, but now Mark won a 350,000 pot all-in before the flop with a fairly marginal hand - that proved to be best though.

Ace Speaks From Deauville - EPT Update No. 21

One correction, guys. The guy who lost the big pot with the nine-four was not Carl Olsen of course, but the guy sitting to his immediate right, Justin Bonomo. Sorry about that, guys. By the way, todays bubble boy will receive 9,000 Euros, while all others will receive at least 13,500 Euros, all the way to a 144,000 Euros first prize.

Ace Speaks From Deauville - EPT Update No. 20

Exits:
10. Keith The Camel Hawkins

Developments: With nine players left, we were just one card away from our last hand of the day, Sami Torbeys AQ trailing all the way to the river to Peters AK - but then a queen popped up! It was the second important loss for Peter in a short period of time, and Sami is back in contention now. A few moments before that hand, there was even more firework. In a heavily raised pot before the flop, Luca decided to finally move in with his QQ. Carl Olsen had a whole lot of money invested in the pot already and needed to call only 90,000 more, but he had been caught on a stone-cold steal so he had to think for quite a while before calling the additional money with his nine-four suited. Unfortunately for him, not just one but two queens came on the board! Quads for the Italian charmer who indeed (as I predicted) has come back from behind again, and who now has 440,000 in chips for a way-above-average stack.

New blinds: 10,000-20,000, ante 2,000
Total chips in play: 2,461,500 (approx.)

Ace Speaks From Deauville - EPT Update No. 22

After having lost the two pots mentioned, Peter Eichhardt seemed to be in desperation mode a little. Raising 90,000 all-in from the cutoff with queen-little, Bob Coombes called him from the blind with eights. Bang! A queen on the flop, once again keeping the underdog alive. And exactly when it seemed we couldnt get rid of our final player, this is exactly what happened. From the small blind, Sami thought: What Peter can do, I can do better, and made a move with a Q5. Justin found A8 of diamonds in the big blind, and called for about 50,000 extra. In the end, the best hand held up, and we now have our final 8 players:

Mark Ristine 251,000
Peter Eichhardt 202,000
Jeremy Tuckman 372,000
Brandon Schaeffer 691,000
Bob Coombes 163,000
Justin Bonomo 124,000
Carl Olson 349,000
Luca Pagano 316,000

Exit:
9. Sami Torbey

Thats it for today, guys. Weve got some exciting stuff for you in store tomorrow, so I would say: Dont miss anything. Check in same time, same place, and I will try to be there as quickly as possible both with reports, photos and analysis. Bonsoir from Deauville - see you all tomorrow.
