| The first ever Ladies Only $300 No-Limit Texas Hold'em championship event got under way
at 10 AM on Sunday, November 6. There were 139 enthusiastic participants competing for a first place
prize of $13,965. The prize pool totaled $36,750 and the top ten positions were paid. This inaugural
event was won by Reading, MA, resident, Deepti Pant.
Deepti certainly had her work cut out for her as she began the final table as one of four short
stacks. One of the others, Anne Delsignore of Cranston, RI, was the 10th place finisher. She had an A8
but Elisa Holmes had AQ and Anne would take home $735. The 9th spot was claimed by Pat Evans,
Taftville, CT. Pat, the table's short stack, was all-in with Q8; Mary Dale turned her AJ into a pair and
Pat was the winner of $918. Two of the larger stacks went head to head when Barbara Carralero,
Bridgeport, CT went all-in with A6 off and Carol Censki called with As5s. The board yielded no pairs
but Carol caught the river flush to send Barbara home in 8th position with $1,103. Selena Belisle from
Braintree, MA, ran into Mary's A9 with an A7 and she was the winner of $1,286. Deepti took a chunk
of Carol's chips and Carol, now short stacked, was forced all-in with 102; Danielle Bracey had AQ and
Carol returned to Enfield, CT, in 6th place with $1,654. Mary Dale called Deepti's all-in with K10;
Deepti's AK held up and Mary was left in 5th for $2,389. Patricia Moody from Old Lyme, CT, played
an A4 all-in; Danielle called with 105 and was the winner when three more 10's came on board. Pat
won 4th place money of $3,123. Elisa Holmes, Ellington, Ct, was the next to tangle with Danielle.
Elisa had AQ to Danielle's A10 but when the board came QJ869 Danielle had a straight and Elisa was
collecting $4,227 for 3rd place.
The chip count was even when Deepti and Danielle began heads up action. After a few hands
back and forth, Deepti went all-in with 9's and Danielle called with A8. Deepti's pair held up and Danielle
Bracy returned to Wakefield, RI, in 2nd place with $7,350. Deepti Pant took the first Ladies
Championship and claimed the commemorative leather jacket, crystal trophy and $13,305!
