Tournament Report

Four way split sees Julian De Valdes on his way to Vegas and the first series of the Majestic Poker Tour at an end in Margarita Venezuela.

Margarita was the venue for this weekends Majestic Poker Tour event. This event was structured in a truly interesting manner much similar to the first ever televised poker series, 'Late night poker' from the UK. The $3,250 entrance fee gained players a seat in one of 20 single table tournaments, two players qualifying from each heat and bringing the chips they end with into the final day. Players started with 5,000,000 in chips and blinds starting at 25,000 50,000 with one optional rebuy of $1,500 for 2,500,000 in tournament chips.

Around 70 players took part and with 20 heats scheduled many players entered into more then 5 heats in an attempt to make the finals!

Once in the final day everyone was guaranteed at least some of the whopping prize pool which exceeded 1,500,000,000 bolivares ($700,000).

But with a very top heavy prize structure which saw over $200,000 going to first and under $50,000 for second the final four decided to put a halt to the play and agree a four way chop of the prize pool which saw Julian de Valdez crowned the official Majestic Poker Tour champion of Venezuela and on his way to Las Vegas next month.
