| It didn't take long for us to see action at today's final table. With both Brain Chan and Scott Goodman playing the short stack, it was only a matter of time before the crowd saw the first casualty of the day.
On the sixth hand of the day Howard Chow raised $2K more from the cut off with Qc Jc. Scott Goodman decided that his Ac Tc was good enough for his last $9,200 in chips so he moved all in. Howard quickly called and after the flop came down, Qh Td 8h 9c Qs, Scott became our first victim of today's final table and the official bubble boy collecting nothing more than 2 minutes of TV time.
Next big hand of the day saw Daniel Heimller and David Zazzi lock horns. With blinds at 400/800 and 100 Ante Daniel raised first into the pot to $3,600 with Ad Qh. All other players got out of the way with the exception of David Zazzi who decided to flat call with his 9s 9d. When the flop came down 7c 3s 8c, David led out $5,600. Daniel thought for a brief while then decided that David could be moved off his hand when he moved all in for another $21,900. Although a strong bet, David made a good call and his nines held up when the final board read 7c 3s 8c 5d Kc. Daniel was now the newest short stack in town.
Full Tilt pro Richard Brodie 'Quiet Lion' came into today's final table with the chip lead and some aggressive play behind him. On hand 38 of the day, Richard raised pre-flop with 3h 3d. Daniel Heimiller found As Qd and decided that this was going to be his last stand so he moved the rest of his chips all in. The Quiet Lion called so quick it even scared the camera man and we had a race on our hands. The flop looked promising for Daniel with the Qs in the window, but hiding right underneath it was the ugly 3c, leaving Daniel a little more than a 3% chance at survival. When the final board read Qs 3c 2d Jh 5s, the Lion had roared and Daniel's TV appearance was over for the day. Daniel finishes in 5th place and collects $3,491.
Brain Chan had fought hard all day to build his tiny starting stack up from $7K to over $28K. Not easy when the chip leader (Richard Brodie) is on your right all day. However, on hand 49 Brian fell in love with his pocket sevens (7h 7d) pre flop only to find David waiting in the willows with two ladies (Qs Qc). Final board (6d 8c Ac Js Jh) never gave Brain any love and we had our 4th place finisher. Brain collects $5,238 and some good TV exposure.
Howard Chow was next to bow when he figured that Qs Js was good enough for all of his chips pre-flop, only to find David Zazzi once again with a pocket pair, this time 8d 8h and enough reasons to call. The final board read 4c 7s Kh 3d 4s. Howard Chow finished in 3rd place and takes home $6,548.
David Zazzi now found himself heads up with former Microsoft employee Richard Brodie. David had a two to one chip lead over Richard and it wasn't going to be long before Richard was going to try and change all that. Sure enough on the second hand heads up, all the chips got into the middle and the Quiet Lion had been hunted by the young hunter. Pre flop action saw Richard limp in with Qs 4s, and David electing to see a cheap flop with his 5h 3h. When the flop landed 7h Th Qh, the trap was set and all David had to do was wait. Both players checked the flop and when the turn brought the 3c, David had decided to fire the first bullet with a $5K bet. Richard immediately raised to $15K and the young David fired the rest of his bullets moving all in. The quiet Lion was certainly just that when he eventually called only to find himself drawing dead.
Richard Brodie finishes in 2nd place collecting $10,913 and some great TV play.
David Zazzi wins today's event and collects $17,460 in the process. Well played David.
