Tournament Report
| With a mountain of chips to start today's final table, Korean poker veteran Spring Cheong was looking to steam roll the 5 remaining players. On the first hand of the day that is exactly what she did. After Wasyl limped in from under the gun with As 9d, Spring Cheong had the button and decided that she was not going to allow anyone to see a cheap flop today. She raised to 14K with the 4h 3c and after deliberating on whether or not to end his TV appearance early, Wasyl re-raised the remainder of his chips. Spring of course called and the first head was on the chopping block. After the final board came down Jc 7h 5s 3d 4c, Spring had her first victim of the day. Wasyl Zaliwciw finishes in 6th place and collects $7,857 for his troubles.
The next player that made a run for the mountain was Tom Macey. When Tom found Qc 9d under the gun, he decided to move his last 16K all in. The action was folded around to Spring and she said 'Suited, I call!' as she turned over Td 7d we somehow knew we had our fifth place finisher before the board was even dealt. Sure enough when the final board read 6h 5d Tc Kh Kc we certainly had our 5th place finisher and it was Tom. Tom collects $9,176.
World class player J.C.Tran was the only player that ever looked like he could catch Spring and he certainly re-enforced that when his Ac 9h was good enough to eliminate Aaron Learners Kd Qh when the final board read 7s Ah 3s Td 7c. Aaron finishes in 4th place and collects $10,476.
Now three handed all players managed to trade chips for quite a while when a huge pot developed between J.C. and Robert. Robert raised from the button with the Kc Qh to 30K and when J.C. moved all in behind him with As Kd, Robert called leaving him with only 2K in chips should his hand not hold up. The flop of 8h 2d 9d looked safe enough for J.C. but the Black Maria Qs sprung on the turn to give Robert the lead and a chance to give Spring a real run for her money. The river was an incredible Ah saving J.C. and leaving Robert with only 2K to fight the war with.
Incredibly Robert did manage to win the next 2 hands but on the 3rd one his Ac 8c was overpowered by Springs Kh Qh when she made a flush on the fiver on a board of 8h 5h 6s Qs 4h. Robert played outstanding poker all day yesterday and again today, unfortunately for him he finishes in 3rd place, but fortunately he collects $14,405 for his efforts.
Now heads up, good friends J.C. and Spring went at it for quite a while. J.C. almost made a huge comeback but Spring just had too many chips. The final hand of the day saw Spring limp in from the button with Ac Jd and J.C. tried to make a move at the pot with the 8s 9s by moving all in. Spring happily called and after the final board read Ah 5c 4d Js Kd we had our fourth champion for the semi finals. J.C. Tran finishes in 2nd place and collects $26,190 and Spring wins $44,521 for 1st
