NENAD MEDIC IS THE 2006 CHAMPION! WINS $1,717,194!

Nenad Medic, a resident of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, left the heavy lifting to E G Harvin and took the Championship Title of the 2006 $10,000 WPT No-Limit Hold’em event of the Foxwoods World Poker Finals!
E G was responsible for knocking out the first four players at the Final Table but he could not get by Nenad. Nenad was sitting at his third WPT final table and the third time was a charm as he collected the Championship Trophy, Commemorative leather jacket and First Place money of $1,717,194!
The players sat down a little after 4 PM and it took one hand to lose the first player. Mike Perry of Oakland, ME, called E G’s all-in with pocket K’s. E G turned over pocket 2’s and Mike was ahead especially after a K came on the flop. E G had a flush draw and when he hit it on the river, Mike was the hard-luck winner of $200,340.
Shortly thereafter crowd favorite Kathy Liebert had a flush on the turn with 4h5h but E G had AhJh. Kathy, who was at her 2nd final table of the 2006 WPF, will take $257,579 home to Las Vegas, NV for her 5th place finish.
Mike “Chuckles” Omelchuk lifted himself from the short stack to 4th place. He had earlier doubled up against E G with K’s versus 6’s; but when he went all-in with J9 after a J106 flop his night was over when E G showed JQ. Chuckles, who finished 2nd in this year’s $3000 No-Limit event, took $343,439 home to Bellport, NY.
Mimi Tran of Los Angeles, CA, lost a large pot to E G when his 4h5h again was a winner. Mimi was all-in for her last 700K with QJ after a 26Q flop; but again E G was the caller and his A9 left Mimi in 3rd place after an A came on the turn. Mimi collected $472,228 for her efforts. Entering heads-up play, E G had about a $1,000,000 chip advantage.
Nenad had pulled close to him when his 102 became a full house after a 21010 flop. E G had called with A8; the pot was worth almost $2.5 million. After Mimi was eliminated, Nenad took sizable pots with pairs and then gave some back when E G flopped a set of Q’s. The ultimate hand was a game of cat’n’mouse as Nenad, who flopped a set of 5’s, drew E G into his trap. E G went all-in with AJ; but with no help from the turn and river, E G ended his remarkable tournament run in 2nd place.
E G, a resident of West Palm Beach, FL, was the winner of $904,389!
Nenad, the seasoned tournament pro, had overcome all challengers to take the WPT $10,000 Championship of the Foxwoods World Poker Finals!
