Local player wins Betfair Asian Poker Tour side-event

Singaporean David Kiu, 29, won the US$150 buy-in no limit hold’em side event at the Betfair Asian Poker Tour last night (13th November).

He took home US$12,940 for his first place finish and says he will be returning today for some more poker action. “I am so proud to be able to win a poker event in my home town. There were some really strong players from all over the world which makes it particularly sweet.”

Three Singaporeans made the top ten in this event which attracted 278 players and had a prize pool US$41,700. Betfair’s Head of Poker Ben Fried said, “Poker is a game of skill and psychology. Players have to be able to assess their opponents and make important decisions. Clearly Singaporeans have a talent for the game.”
