Tournament Report

'Spring Poker Tournament' Concludes to Crowds

Reno, NV- With improved with conditions, the numbers continue to climb at the Peppermill 'Spring Poker Tournament'. The main event Saturday, a $330 No-Limit Hold'em competition, attracted 181 players and $54,300 in prize money.

Ninh Chew, of Eldorado Hills, CA, overcame Mike Girard, of Roseville, CA. to win the 1st Place trophy and $18,565. Girard received $10,540 as consolation for 2nd Place.

'I hate to see it end,' Ninh Chew said. 'It has been a good tournament in a beautiful hotel/casino.'

The evening 'second chance' $225 No-Limit Hold'em event had a 136 players vying for $27,200 in prize money. It was won by Jimmy G. McCord, of Sacramento. He received $9,375 for 1st Place.

'I think that with that with the better weather we're seeing much bigger numbers than last weekend. So, I think we'll see that trend continue right through the Championship event,' Poker Manager Mike Gainey predicted.

The 'Spring Poker Tournament' concludes Sunday, March 4, with a $1,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em event. In addition to a lot of prize money, the victor will be presented a handsome gold Champion's bracelet to commemorate the victory.
