Tournament Report

The Stud Hi/Lo tournament was a departure from the Hold'em events of the past. The 287 players were all trying to take down the $27,550 first prize and the coveted Legends of Poker ring. Some of the well known pro's in the tournament included: Men 'The Master' Nguyen, Vince Burgio, Chris Grigorian, and Davidson Matthews. Each player started out with 2,000 chips and the limits started out at 25-50.

The bubble busted 8 hours into the tournament which meant that the remaining 27 players would be getting an early payday.

Once we made the final table, the action picked up quite significantly. Our 8th place finisher, Olive Aultman was on a draw against the made set of Ronnie Mcmillan. Never made the hand he was looking for and mucked his cards. Oliver Aultman Finished in 8th earning $1,370.

Al Barbieri took the plunge on fourth street with an 8-7-6-4 low draaw and tried to improve. In the end his opponent made a 6 high straight and Al was left with only a pair of 4's and a busted low draw. Al Barbieri finished 8th earning $2,070.

With a low draw up and a pair of Aces, Jack Rose put his last bit of chips in the middle against Jean Gaspard who had a flush draw and a 7-6 low draw. The low never made it for Jean, but the flush was good enough to take out Jack Rose in 6th place earning $2,750.

On 44h street, Timothy Frazen asked his magic 8-ball if he should make his move and it said yes. He took the plunge against Ronnie Mcmillan who had a low draw and a pair of Aces and 2-4-5 low as well.. Once the river came, it was Ronnie who needed to catch up…and he did. He catches the river 3 for the wheel. Timothy squeezed his last card and toght it might be a 10 but it turned out to be a 9 and that did it for Timothy who finished 5th earning $3,440.

Gary Do put Clarence Cole all-in with Gary holding a flush draw and Cole holding an A-2-5 low draw with a J-10 in the hole. The last two cards came out 3 and 5 for Cole and the flush was made by Gary Do. Clarence Cole finished 4th earning $4,130.

The remaining players played for another hour before getting a chip count and making a deal for the remaining prize pool. Our Champion, once again, is Ronnie Mcmillan who wins $27,550.
