Poker pro Jan Fisher wins LPA Pro Tour event at Cherokee Casino Resort

TULSA, Okla - The Ladies Poker Association (LPA) Pro Tour high stakes No Limit Hold ‘em event wrapped up with success Sunday, August 5, at Cherokee Casino Resort. Women's poker pro legend, Jan Fisher, was the top winner of the tournament, taking home more than $11,000.

Fisher also won an all-expense paid trip and seat to the LPA's Pro Tour $1,000 buy-in event in Los Angeles, Calif., which she handed over to runner-up, Cheryl Baugus, as part of a deal. The winner of the Los Angeles event will be invited to play in the World Poker Tour's televised Ladies Night Invitational.

'Cherokee Casino Resort was thrilled to hold this event,' said David Stewart, CEO of Cherokee Nation Enterprises. 'Women-only tournaments are becoming extremely popular. We would like to continue to be a favorite stop for LPA on their pro tour.'

Cherokee Casino Resort has held many women-only tournaments since expanding in 2004, but this was the first time for the resort to be a stop on the LPA's Pro Tour. The tournament attracted 63 entries with $550 buy-ins. Many famed women poker players attended including Linda Johnson, Donna Blevins, and winner Jan Fisher.

Fisher has been playing poker all of her life, but moved to Las Vegas in 1977 to make poker her full time job. Still living in Las Vegas, Fisher has become one of the most popular woman poker players in the U.S.
She is often referred to as one of two 'First Ladies of Poker,' the other being her friend and business partner, Linda Johnson. Together with Johnson, Fisher runs Card Player Cruises. She is an announcer for the Professional Poker Tour, a statistician for World Poker Tour (WPT), and a WPT Boot Camp instructor. Fisher's total winnings are near $40,000 with 16 cashes and five first place finishes.
