Tournament Report

$135,567 TO THE FIRST PLACE FINAL TABLE WINNER JOHN TRIFONE!

The finale of the 2007 Foxwoods World Poker Finals $600 No-Limit Championship came down to two of the final table chip leaders. John Trifone of Newington, CT, was able to outlast Stephen Hinkle to claim the Championship Trophy, commemorative leather jacket and the cash prize of $135,567!
A total of 938 players started on Wednesday and 33 returned at noon today to compete for the remainder of the $484,166 prize pool.
The final table was decided just before 4 pm and George Eldridge of Plainville, MA, was the first of four players to be eliminated by Steve Hinkle. George pushed all-in for 300K with AQ and after some deliberation was called by Steve with J's. The board was no help to George and he collected $7,505 for 10th place. Keith Anger had AK and was all-in for 96K; John called with QJ and a Q on the flop placed Keith in 9th. Keith would return home to Winooski, VT with $9,683 for his efforts.
Steve had AK and called the all-in of Michael Dzanoucakis who turned over AJ. Michael, a resident of Hampton Bays, NY, got nothing from the board and found himself in 8th position with $12,104.
Ban Tran, Salisbury, MA, took a chance with AQ but Rory Belanger had pocket 8's. An 8 on the flop gave Rory a set and Ban was in 7th place with $14,525. Rory Belanger's day ended when he flopped a set of 2's but Richard Galvin flopped a set of 8's and Rory had 6th place and $16,946 to take home to Bristol, CT.
Richard Galvin began the final table as the chip leader but had early on lost two large pots to Joshua Emerson. He recovered somewhat but finally went all-in with A10; Steve called with KQ and a Q on the flop ended Richard's day. He had 5th place and $21,787 to take home to Billerica, MA.
With four players remaining, John and Steve were the chip leaders by far. Salvatore Poma and Joshua Emerson had 500K each and Sal decided to risk his final 200K on J9. John called with K10 and a 10 on the flop and another on the river gave the pot to John. Sal, a resident of Hauppauge, NY, was left in 4th place worth $26,630.
Joshua Emerson also decided that J9 was a good bet especially after a 10J5 flop. But he was called immediately by Steve who had pocket A's and Joshua took 3rd place money of $38,733 home to Enfield, NH.
The last two players of the 938 who started the day before now squared off to decide the Championship. Stephen Hinkle had a slight chip advantage entering heads-up action. The competition was back and forth until Steve decided to push all-in with AQ; John had AK which held and Steve was left with just over 500K.
The final hand pitted Steve's Q10 against John's pocket 3's. A 3 on the flop gave John a set and Stephen Hinkle, a resident of Lebanon, NH, was the 2nd place winner of $70,930. And John Trifone was the $600 No-Limit Champion for 2007! Reported by Jeffrey A Toth for Foxwoods Resort Casino
