Tournament Report
The Foxwoods World Poker Finals “Ladies Only" No-Limit Championship was a $600 event for 2007. The
top 20 contestants divided the prize pool of $111,957 and Leslie Haggerty of Rensselaer, NY, claimed first place with a
hard fought victory over Mary Dale and the other 214 competitors. Leslie was awarded the Championship Trophy, a
commemorative leather jacket and $38,626!
The final table began at Noon on Sunday and within minutes Ninette Ebeid-Ishak was all-in with Q6 after a
Q88 flop. Stacey Kagawa called with QJ and Donna Douroudian was all-in from the BB with 84 for a set. Ninette was
out in 10th place and would return home to Gilford, NH, with $2,239. Cheryl Kreigstein of Bayside, NY, lost most of
her stack when Alcinda Wangnoon hit a flush and soon was all-in for her last 8K. Leslie had pocket Q"s and Cheryl
finished 9th with $2,519. Alcinda Wangnoon found herself all-in with 53 in the BB; Mary had A6 and Alcinda could
not catch and she took $2,799 back to Brockton, MA, for 8th place. Shawna Toby of Cambridge, ME, was down to her
last 7K but was able to survive 4 all-ins to rebuild her stack. Ultimately she went all-in with AQ; Stacy had pocket 10"s
and a 10 on the flop relegated Shawna to 7th place for $3,359. The 6th place finisher was Jody Bluett who traveled to
Foxwoods from Broadbeach Waters, “Surfers Paradise", Australia. Jody went in with KJ but Mary had AcQc. A K and
a J came on the board but Mary hit the flush and Jody took home $3,919 for her efforts.
Donna Douroudian, whose husband, Amir, finished 6th in the Seniors, was able to top him with her 5th
place finish today. As the short stack at the final table, Donna was all-in for the final time with Q3; she paired the board
but Paula Carrelo hit a flush and Donna to Derry, NH with $5,038. Paula Carrelo of Naugatuck, CT, began the day as
the chip leader and with four players remaining she still had a commanding lead. But Paula"s advantage slowly eroded
as Stacey, Mary and Leslie survived all-ins and doubled up through her. She lost with pocket 6"s to Leslie"s KJ when
she caught a K on the river; her pocket 9"s lost to Mary"s K10 with a 4610 flop. In the end her QJ could not connect and
Mary, with pocket 6"s, would leave Paula in 4th place with $6,716. Mary had a huge chip lead by this point and she
called Stacey Kagawa who was all-in with pocket 2"s. Mary had Q8 and when Q8 came on the flop, Stacey would
return to Fort Bragg, NC, with $10,916 for 3rd place.
Mary Dale was still the leader with two left but she went all-in with pocket 7"s and Leslie called with AQ.
When a Q came on the flop the table was turned and Leslie had the edge. Leslie kept the pressure on and after an hour of
heads-up play forced Mary all-in. Mary, a resident of Valhalla, NY, was hoping for a straight but it was not to be as
Leslie's 7"s held. Mary could take solace with 2nd place money of $19,592!
Leslie Haggerty, who finished 15th in the Foxwoods Poker Classic Ladies event was now the Ladies"
Champion of the 2007 Foxwoods World Poker Finals!
