The 2007 Foxwoods World Poker Finals $600 7 Card Stud Hi-Lo Championship attracted 145 entrants
who competed for a total prize pool of $76,484. After five hours of strenuous play, John Uhlig of Ansonia, CT,
emerged victorious and claimed the Championship Trophy, commemorative leather jacket and $30,594!!
The short stack at the final table, Joe Simmons was soon all-in; his two pair was no match for Paul Perry
who hit quad 6's. Joe, a resident of Philadelphia, PA, took 8th place and $2,294. The next player to leave the table
was Anthony “The Greek Jr” Snyder of Leonia, NJ. Anthony was all-in four times before his 10's up lost to
Howard Crash's Q's up; Anthony was the winner of $2,677 for 7th. Dan Battaglia was at his 2nd Final Table of
the 2007 FWPF but could not improve on his 3rd place in Omaha. Dan, who says he had never played a Hi-Lo game
before this week, lost a big hand with a 7 high straight to Paul who had a straight to the 6. Shortly thereafter, Dan
was all-in; his K's were a loser to Howard's Q's full. Dan, a resident of Kent, OH, took home $3,442 for 6th. Fellow
Ohioan Michael DePascale had five chances to double up but ending up chopping each time. Finally in three way
action, his low could not beat Ming Lee's and Mike would return home to Cortland, OH, with 5th place and $4,207.
Howard Crash of Weston, CT, took 9th in this event in 2006 and improved to 4th in 2007. Before his
final hand he lost a big pot to Paul who caught A's up to top Howard's two pair. He went all-in with 7's up but John
caught trip A's; Howard claimed $5,545 for his efforts. Paul Perry of Tiverton, RI, had a slight chip lead with three
players remaining. But with the limits at 10K/20K large swings were common. Paul twice lost to higher straights
and was finally all-in for his last 20K. In three way action his two pair lost to John's trip 6's; Ming Lee was left
short-stacked and Paul was the 3rd place winner of $8,413.
Down to the final two competitors, Ming Lee was at a disadvantage and the contest was soon over. Ming
doubled up when he hit a flush on the river but when he was all-in again with A's up, John had trip 2's. Ming, a
resident of Natick, MA, was in 2nd place and the winner of $15,297!
And John Uhlig was the 2007 Foxwoods World Poker Finals 7 Card Stud Hi-Lo Champion !!
