Tournament Report

FIRST PLACE WORTH $37,207 TO KEVIN SONG!!

The 2007 Foxwoods World Poker Finals $600 Limit Hold'em Championship went to Kevin Song of Hacienda Heights, CA. Kevin added to his list of accomplishments and lifetime winnings as he rolled to victory over the Final Table and the rest of the 206 person field to claim the Championship Trophy, commemorative leather jacket and $37,207!!

The Final Table got under way at Noon on Wednesday and it was not long before Sam Landes of Gainesville, FL, was all-in after an AQ6 flop. He had AK but Keith LaFlam had pocket Q's and Sam was left in 10th place with $2,157.

David Gorman bet his last 12K on pocket J's; but Kevin had A7 and with an A on the flop, David was in 9th position. David, a resident of Newton, MA, took home $2,426.

Ray Gauvin of Brooklyn, CT, started as the short stack on the final table and was able to vault to 8th place. He staked his luck on pocket K's but Keith, with Q10, caught a flush; and Ray, who had earlier almost walked away from a flush which kept him in the game, was the winner of $2,697.

Adam Boudreau was down to the felt and Al Capozzi, in the BB, called his bet. Adam had KJ and Al turned over 97; a 65288 board gave Al a straight and Adam would return home to Plymouth, MA, with 7th place and $3,235.

With the limits at 6K/12K, the chip leader was still Kevin Song with Len Levine as the short stack. At this level, Keith LaFlam was the only player to go out. He had five way action on his last 14K but could not connect and the pot was taken with trip 8's by Len who greatly increased his stack. Keith, a resident of Colchester, VT, took 6th place worth $3,375.

The next level saw Ken Gacek of Glastonbury, CT, take 5th place. Ken pushed in his last chips with J10 after a J94 flop. Kevin called with KQ and a Q on the turn gave Ken $4,853 in winnings. With the limits now at 10K/20K, Domenic Bramantecohen lost a large pot with AJ to Kevin who had AQ. He bet his last 30K on A10 which Len called from the BB with 94. A 9 on the turn put Domenic in 4th place and the Wilmington, MA, resident had $6,470 for his efforts. With three way action on the next hand Al Capozzi bet his last 23K on KJ. But Kevin, with K8, caught an 8 on the turn and Al would head back his hometown of Carver, MA, with 3rd place and $10,515.

When heads-up action began Kevin had a chip advantage which he soon was able to turn into victory. Len Levine of Lincoln, RI, put up a valiant effort but even after doubling on two occasions he could not come back. Finally all-in with A2, Len could not hit an A as Kevin's pocket 7's held and Len could ease the pain of defeat with 2nd place and $18,873!!
And Kevin Song was the Foxwoods World Poker Finals $600 Limit Hold'em Champion for 2007!
