Tournament Report
| The 412 entrants who began play on Friday in the 2007 Foxwoods World Poker Finals $1500 No-Limit
Championship were pursuing a prize pool of $552,415. Seventeen returned at Noon to vie for the top prize and when
the contest was over, David Fox of Coram, NY, was the winner of the Championship Trophy, commemorative
leather jacket and $180,364!
The Final Table began after two hours of play and the first to leave was Bryan Barrile of Amherst, MA.
Bryan was in with his last 50K and hoping to hit a flush but it was not to be; Bryan was the 10th place winner of
$8,563. Benjamin Fineman was the short stack at the table; he had pocket A’s to double up once but, in three way
action, his pocket J’s were not enough as Ben Nakhoul had K’s and Phil Reed had a wheel. Benjamin, a resident of
Las Vegas, NV, took home $11,048 for 9th. Farhad Sinaei of New Britain, CT, took a chance with pocket 10’s.
Phil called his all-in with AK and with two A’s on the flop, Farhad was left in 8th position with $13,811. Of the
seven players remaining, Justin Lunin-Pack was the short stack. The blinds were at 10K/20K and Justin took a
stand with A10. Phil had AQ and the Q played and Justin was relegated to 7th place collecting $16,572.
The A10 worked for Ben Nakhoul when he went all-in for 380K. Young Phan of Garden Grove, CA,
called with J’s but a KQ3KQ board gave the pot to Ben and left Young short stacked. Young was then all-in with
pocket 6’s but David Fox had K’s up and Young took home $19,335 for 6th. Joe Brooks, a resident of Egg Harbor
Township, NJ, pushed in with A5 and was called by David Zeitlin with pocket Q’s. The Q’s held and Joe was in 5th
place with $24,858. After an AhQh7h flop, Benjamin Nakhoul was all-in for 350K with Q2. David Zeitlin had
limped in with 8h5h to flop a flush and Benjamin would return home to Wakefield, MA, with 4th place money of
$33,145.
A heart flush was also the undoing of Phillip Reed. Phil was able to double up with two pair through
David Zeitlin but David Fox hit a runner-runner flush to leave Phil with less than 200K. He doubled up once again
but David Fox’s pocket Q’s topped his A10 to leave Phil in 3rd place. The Darien, CT, resident took home $52,480
for his efforts. As heads-up play began, David Fox had almost a three to one chip margin over David Zeitlin. Play
see-sawed back and forth. Neither player was all-in but David Fox took two large pots once with 10’s and then with a
flush over David Zeitlin’s wheel. In the end both players had 9’s but David Fox had the K kicker and David Zeitlin, a
resident of New York, NY, was the 2nd place winner of $91,148!!
And David Fox was the 2007 Foxwoods World Poker Finals $1500 No-Limit Hold’em Champion!!
