BERNARD LEE IS VICTORIOUS AND WINS $239,143!

The record number of 406 players who entered the 2007 Foxwoods World Poker Finals $2000 No-Limit Championship anted up a prize pool of $732,447!
At noon on Sunday, 26 players returned to compete for the top prize. After 9 hours of play, Bernard Lee of Wayland, MA, overcame the persistent challenges of Joe Cappello and the rest of the final table and emerged victorious claiming the Championship Trophy, commemorative leather jacket and $239,143!!
The Final Table got underway at 3 pm and it was not long before Luke Allain of Swampscott, MA, was all-in with J10. Ken Justin called with pocket J's; Luke, with a straight draw, could not connect and he was the 10th place winner of $11,353.
The 9th place winner was Alex Muscarella of the Bronx, NY. Alex was all-in with AQ but Mike Watson took the pot with pocket K's and Alex had $14,649 for his efforts.
William Spadea lost two races with AK and AJ and the third time was not a charm. He was all-in after a J98 flop with A9; Bernard Lee called with J4 and the J's were enough to end William's day. He would return home to South Easton, MA, with 8th place winnings of $18,311.
Michael Watson started the Final Table as the short stack. He was all-in several times with no callers as well as taking out Alex. His luck turned as he lost with K's when Salvatore Paterno caught a flush on the river and then with A7 to Joseph Cappello's pocket J's. Michael, a resident of Toronto, Canada, was all-in with J9; Bernard Lee's AQ put Michael in 7th position with $21,947.
An hour and a half would elapse before the next player would depart the table. With the blinds at 15K/30K, Stamatis Reves of East Greenwich, RI, was all-in with his “favorite hand” J9 suited. But Christopher Griffin had pocket 9's and Stamatis was the 6th place winner of $25,635.
There would be two more hours of play and the blinds advancing to 25K/50K before Salvatore Paterno of Kings Park, NY, went out in 5th. Bernard and Joseph had the biggest stacks by far and the others were trying to hold on. Salvatore was in with QJ and caught a straight on the river but Bernard hit a flush and Salvatore had $32,960. Cambridge, MA, resident, Kenneth Justin, had pocket Q's against Joseph's QJ but a 1098 flop gave Joseph a straight. Kenneth was the 4th place winner of $43,947.
Christopher Griffin was forced all-in on the BB with 43 and hit a straight with a flop of 765 but an A5 on the turn and river filled Joseph's A5. Christopher had 3rd place and $69,583 to take home to Malden, MA.
Heads up action was down to the two players who began the Final Table as the chip leaders. It was Bernard Lee, however, who now had an overwhelming advantage. Joseph Capello of New Rochelle, NY, staved off the inevitable for a while but eventually he was all-in with AK. Bernard turned over pocket 5's which held up leaving Joseph with 2nd place winnings of $120,854!!
