Tournament Report

All the action can be found here

111 Players returned to the Commerce casino for day 2 of the WPT Invitational. The 30 minute rounds forced the action and players departed very quickly. Poker pros and celebrities alike were falling by the wayside as the chips and cards swirled around the room.

By the dinner break, they were down to 27 and veteran poker professional Billy Baxter was leading the pack. The last celebrity fell about an hour after play resumed. Actor Tom McGowan busted out in 14th place and earned a $10,000 donation to his selected charity. Shane Schleger, who started day 2 as chip leader, was sent packing in 13th place when his AK lost a race to pocket 7s.

WPT Internet spokesperson Kimberly Lansing made it all the way to 8th place and had to make a move with King-Ten. Billy Baxter's Ace-Jack took her out.

With 7 players remain, play would continue until one more was eliminated. And this was a double-bubble, since 7th place paid nothing and also missed the TV final table. In a stunning double-elimination, Billy Baxter's pocket Queens took out two Ladies, Debby Perkins, (A5) and Beverly Kruskol (pocket 8s) on the same hand. Because of this, they shared 6th place and also shared the 6th place prize money of $5,000, each earning $2,500.

This means the final table will only have five players, instead of the usual six. Play is scheduled to get underway at 5pm PST Monday.
