Tournament Report
Sinead Constant wins first ever paddypowerpoker.com Irish Open Ladies event
Sell-out field for €3,000 Added Tournament
Sinead Constant became the first ever paddypowerpoker.com Irish Open Ladies champion late last night taking home €11,400 after outlasting a sell out field of 146 players. The event was so popular that once the original capacity of 120 had been reached a system of alternates was implemented to cater for the demand.
Entry to the event was €300 + €30 with paddypowerpoker.com adding €3,000 to the pot for a total prizepool of €46,800.
Constant, a respected player on the Dublin poker scene, defeated Melissa Downey heads up to claim the title in a battle that lasted only a few hands. The final hand saw Constant all-in with A2 versus Downey’s A8 only for Constant to spike a deuce on the 762 flop. Another 7 on the turn gave Downey extra outs but a blank on the river gave Constant the victory.
Shannon Purtell finished 3rd with Veronique Gourdan from France coming in 4th. Ann McDonnell finished 5th, just ahead of poker journalist Shelley Rubenstein in 6th and Vera Duffy in 7th.
A large crowd, including Padraig Parkinson and Andy Black, watched the final table action unfold from the rail.
