Larry Henry: Seniors No-Limit Hold'em Champion

TULSA, OK - Larry Henry of Tulsa, OK, wins the Oklahoma title in the 6pm, $300+40 Seniors No-Limit Hold'em Championship event Monday, February 18, during the 'Oklahoma State Championship of Poker' at the Cherokee Casino, in Tulsa. He cashed for $14,500. 'I just got big cards at the right time,' explains the tired champion.

Players decided on a chop with eight entrants remaining. The chip leader at the time was James Sybrant who received the largest portion of the remaining prize pool. Larry Henry was sitting at second in chips when the chop was agreed upon and took $14,500. Third place in chips at chop time was Phillip Clutts who took $6,500.

In the final hand, the heads-up players see a cheap flop. Blinds are $12,000 and $24,000 with a $3,000 ante. The cards come out 2-J-Q and Larry checks. Johnny McTigue bets $25,000 and Larry re-raises to $225,000. Johnny thinks for a moment and moves all-in with K-J. Larry calls the all-in and flips over pocket aces. The turn brings an ace, sealing the deal, and Larry Henry is declared the champion.

Of the 286 seniors that entered the tournament three of them were 80 years old. They held a three way tie for 'oldest entrants.'
