Tournament Report

Dong Xu Tops Long 5-Hour Final Table

The 2008 Winnin' o' the Green series event #13 had a 126 player field paying out $61,110. The final table was set at 11:15am with some very deep stacks. The average chip stack was $31,500 with blinds at $800/1600 ($100 ante). Play was generally conservative throughout the final table and the 45-minute blind levels allowed the players to 'wait' for a hand.

The first elimination occurred on hand #9 when David Ahn pushed all-in with A-J and was called by Terry Ackley's pocket 7s. The board was K-8-5-2-9 and Terry's 7s held up. David Ahn was eliminated in 10th place and earned $1,070.

The next elimination took another 10 hands to occur. Greg Abdulian, a poker pro from Laughlin, NV, pushed his short stack of 1,200 and got called by two players who both raised all-in. Paul Darden led with pocket Kings, Mr. Harvester had A-K, and Greg trailed with As-10s. The board was 5-3-2-A-9 and the turn Ace gave Mr. Harvester the entire pot. Paul Darden had Mr. Harvester covered but took a 12,000 hit overall. Greg Abdulian finished in 9th place and took home $1,220.

It was another 50+ hands (over 2 hours) before our next elimination occurred. On hand #76 Paul Darden was all-in with a dominating A-K against Terry Ackley's K-Q. The board was K-Q-8-9-7 and Terry overcame domination by hitting his Queen kicker. Paul, who hit Quad Aces and doubled up about 10 hands ago, was out in 8th place and earned $1,375. Hand #83 had Matt Elsby all-in with a dominating K-10 vs. Ramzi Daniel's K-4. Ramzi was the board mock Matt's domination with K-4-4-5-4. Ramzi caught quad 4s and crippled Matt's stack to 8,000.

On hand #84 Matt Elsby, short stacked, was all-in with A-K and was called blind by Dong Xu in the big blind with Q-2. The board was 7-6-5-3-2. The river deuce gave Dong the pot and sent Matt Elsby to the rail in 7th place for $1,525.
