Tournament Report
Ten Way Deal Gives John Lukin the Win
The 2008 Legends of Poker continued with Event #17, a $335 buy-in No Limit Hold'em tournament with $300 rebuys. A field of 426 players made 564 rebuys creating a prize pool of $288,090. This was a 2-day event with two separate starting times. The players who made it past day 1 returned the next evening and resumed play at 7:15pm.
At just past 3am we reached the final table. As is the routine of every final table the chip counts of each player were counted and verified. During this process a chip count deal was discussed.
When the numbers were ran, each player agreed to the amount they were getting thus ending the tournament. John Lukin arrived to the final table as the chip leader and thus declared winner of event #17.

BIOGRAPHY
John Lukin is a retiree who resides in Redondo Beach, CA. He has played a handful of events at this year's Legends of Poker with this being his first final table and win. With 3 tables left in the tournament, John found pocket Queens and was all-in against his opponent's A-J. His Queens held and very next hand he picked up pocket Jacks that also held up in another large pot. Having won two big pots in back-to-back hands propelled him to one of the chip leaders and later the victory. He describes his play as situational and does not hesitate to change gears. John intends to play more events at this year's Legends of Poker.
