Tournament Report
Final Table Snake Bit by
Kevin “The Snake” Blakey
A field of 578 players battled for their share of the $56,066 prize pool in the second event of the series. This No Limit Hold’em event found its way to the final table at 5:45am after the chip leader Kevin “The Snake” Blakey knocked out two players. The final nine took a break and returned to a 9-way chop with very little debate.
Kevin Blakey shared with me a couple of big hands he had as he did his part in narrowing the field. Kevin knocked out so many players he couldn’t recall the total number. Kevin found himself in a 3-way pot after an opponent pushed all-in with A-J and A-Q called. Kevin was ahead during the entire board and hit a flush on the river just for kicks. With 13 players remaining Kevin took his dominated K-10 against the small blind A-10. The flop came A-Q-x and the turn Jack gave Kevin the nut straight. The river was a brick and Kevin takes out another stack. He landed at the final table with almost half the chips in play—guaranteeing himself 1st place money if they chop immediately.

BIOGRAPHY
Kevin “The Snake” Blakey has dominated tournament poker since returning after taking a year off. He had just cashed three times at The California State Championships and cashed in both events so far in Big Poker Oktober. Kevin had played his typical aggressive style that has worked very well for him over the last 4 years. Kevin said he worked his way up to 32,000 chips by the second level and never felt short stacked during the entire tournament. He leveraged his stack well while playing in position and was able to set some traps that netted a few sizable pots.
