Tournament Report
Tammy Phelps Outlasts 700 Player Field
The 2008 Big Poker October continued with event #5, a $60 buy-in No Limit Hold'em tournament. A field of 700 played for a share of the $33,950 prize pool. The final table was to start with 5K antes and 20K/40K blinds. Tammy Phelps arrived to the final table as the chip leader with 1,010,000 of the 4,174,000 chips in play.
Before the start of the final table there was some discussion of doing a chip count deal. The tournament staff ran the numbers and after some negotiation the numbers were agreed to with Tammy Phelps declared winner of event #5.
Tammy shared a hand where she held pocket 8's and was all in preflop against two other players holding overcards. Her 8's held up and she won a huge pot that propelled her into the chip lead. She never looked back and carried the lead to the final table.

BIOGRAPHY
Tammy Phelps is a mom who resides in Malibu. She calls the Bike her home casino and in addition to playing tournaments you can see her at the $100 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em cash games. Tammy is consistently placing in the top 10-20% of the field and was very happy to breakthrough and win a tournament with such a large field. When Tammy is not busy being a mom and playing poker she enjoys playing tennis. With this win expect Tammy to play in quite a few more events in this year's Big Poker October.
