Carlson Le Takes Down Final Event at Big Poker October
The 2008 Big Poker October continued with event #20, a $120 buy-in Player Appreciation No Limit Hold'em tournament in what was the last event of the series. A field of 502 players vied for a share of the $63,244 prize pool that included $15,000 added by the Bicycle Casino. Carlson Le arrived to the final table as the chip leader with 1,105,000 of the 4,014,000 chips in play.
It took only 3 hands to lose our first player from the final table. Martin Bernaz was all-in with Q-J against Carlson Le's pocket 6's. After the board came A-7-A-A-10 Bernaz was out in 10th place for $695.
On the very next hand Isidro Martinez was all-in with A-8. After some deliberation Austin Yoo called with pocket 9's. When the board came 6-6-T-K-2 Yoo's two-pair sent Martinez' Ace high out in 9th place for $1,265.
A short stacked Jose De Paz was all-in with J-9 against Austin Yoo's A-Q. A board of 8-2-2-8-6 missed both players as Yoo's Ace high knocks out another player as De Paz finishes in 8th place for $1,895.
Couple hands later Austin Yoo was involved in another pot as David Lavin pushed all-in with pocket Jacks. Yoo called with pocket 9's and was a 4 to 1 underdog until the flop came 5-2-9 giving Yoo a set of 9's. After the turn and river came blanks, Yoo knocks out another player as Lavin finishes in 7th place for $2,530.
Dan Huynh was short stacked and was all-in for his remaining chips with 7-5. He was up against Carlson Le's A-Q. After the board came J-10-Q-K-3 Le made an Ace-high straight sending Huynh out in 6th place for $3,160.
The remaining 5 players discussed a chip count deal and had the numbers ran by the tournament floor staff. Each player was satisfied with what they were getting thus ending the tournament. Carlson Le was the chip leader and declared winner of event #20.
