Tournament Report
The final table of the $600 7-Card Stud had half the eight person field eliminated in just under an hour.
The final four however watched a changing of the chip leader for the next two plus hours until the day's initial
chip leader, Leonard Tannenbaum of Armonk, NY, was taken down by the final chip leader Mike Frejka.
The championship ride was not completely smooth sailing for any of the final three as each of them were down
to the felt during the four-way action.
A total of 130 players began the tournament on Wednesday competing for a prize pool of $66,833.
After a Noon start on Thursday, the final table lost its first player when Phillip Reed of Darie, CT went all-in
after 10 minutes of play. Phil had Q's but could not improve and had to concede defeat when Len
Tannenbaum's A's. Phil collected $2,005 for 8th place. William Munley had pocket K's, which was also
unable to improve and succumbed to J's over 4's from Mike Frejka. Mr Munley took 7th and $2,339 back to
Throop, Pa. Shortly thereafter, Jennifer George, of Quincy, MA pushed her last $14,000 in with AK9, only to
improve to a pair of J's and a defeat to trip Q's. For Jennifer's efforts she earned $2,673 and 6th place.
After surviving the previous all-in hand with a pair of 8's, Bobby “The Bus” Ferdinand was unable to
improve his all-in hand of J's and took 5th giving way to Joel Ortiz's K's, and earning a $3,342 payday.
Leonard Tannenbaum enjoyed the chip lead for most of the day, but as the betting structure increased,
Leonard's chip stack started taking hits. There were no less than 7 all-in hands before Leonard was finally
eliminated. Leonard was all-in with Q97 and was called by Mike Frejka and pocket 8's. Mike picked up a
second pair of 10's while Len was unable to improve and had to settle for 4th place and $4,678.
With three players left, and severe chip stack vulnerability with the high betting structure, the final
three contestants reached an agreement to split the remaining prize pool. With the agreement Gordon Spraque
took home the Championship Trophy, Joel Ortiz received the commemorative jacket, while Mike Frejka
received the higher payout, appropriate to his higher chip stack.
