Tournament Report

The 2008 Foxwoods World Poker Finals $600 Limit Hold'em Championship went to John Dziadul of Windsorville, CT. John needed a little over 4 hours to secure his victory over the Final Table, which was all that was left of the 160 person field that started play the day before. John claimed the Championship Trophy, commemorative leather jacket and $25,828!!

The Final Table got under way at Noon on Thursday and it took just over an hour before Marty Orloff of Swampscott, MA, had raised all-in before the KdJd8h flop. Marty had AK but Philip Siuta had 9d6d and with the 3d on the turn Marty was left in 10th place with $1,645. Todd Metter bet his last 20K on K/7, after losing most of his stack the hand prior. He was called by CJ Mucciaccio with A/10 and with no help from the board, Todd took 9th for $2,061 back to Somerville, MA. Louis Russo of Brooklyn, NY moved all-in with pocket J's and was called by Chris Barnes with A/3. The board played-out 5/3/K/A/3 giving Chris 3's full and leaving Lou with 8th position and a $2,467 payday. Next to depart was Philip Siuta, a resident of Unionville, CT. Phil moved all-in, after the flop of 6hKc4h, with AQ. John called with KhQh and with no help for Phil, he would finish in 7th and pick-up $2,879 for his efforts. Christopher Barnes, who started as the short stack on the final table, was able to vault to 6th place. After surviving several called all-in efforts, he staked his luck on pocket 7's but Steven Coughlin, with A/J, hit a J on the flop; and Chris, who hails from Raynham, MA, was the winner of $3,291. CJ Mucciaccio of Middle Village, NY pushed all-in with K/J after the flop came-out 9/2/Q, and was called by Tim Finne with A/J. Once again the board provided no improvement for the all-in, and CJ would take down 5th for $4,112.

Bobby ‘The Bus' Ferdinand from Revere, MA would earn his best finish at this years' WPF after reaching his third final table. Bobby already had earned a 7th and a 5th place finish in the 2008 WPF events, and now has a 4th, after a gut-wrenching all-in call by eventual Champion Dziadul. Bobby moved all-in with 6s9s, after the flop and turn of 4s8d2sJs. John short called with As10s, leaving Bobby with only 5k left in play. He pushed all-in a couple of hands later with 5/8, and was called by the last 3 remaining players, who checked it down with John making A's and Bobby taking $5,758 back to Revere.

The final 3 played for an hour before Timothy Finne of Fanwood, NJ, who had reached his 2nd final table in the 2008 WPF, would move all-in with J/8, only to be called by Steve with pocket 5's. The flop and the turn, 8/3/7/8 gave Tim trip 8's but the 5 on the river gave Steve 5's full and Tim 3rd for $7,403. The final two would go back and forth for about half an hour before Steven Coughlin of Glastonbury, CT would finally move all-in with A/5, after the turn gave the board 4/5/4/3. John would call with Q/6 and hit the 7 on the river for the straight, resigning Steve to 2nd for $14,395, and leaving John with the 2008 Foxwoods World Poker Finals $600 Limit Hold'em Championship!
