Tournament Report

The $3000 No-Limit Hold'em Championship of the 2008 Foxwoods World Poker Finals attracted a total of 105 players competing for a prize pool of $285,180.

David Einhorn of Rye, NY, was able to ride his patience, seeing very little action during the first 3 hours of play. His cards started to improve, along with his chip stack as he took the lead at the Final Table and never looked back. David was the winner of the Championship Trophy, commemorative leather jacket and $89,547!

There were 8 players who returned on Monday as the final hand, on Sunday, would send two players home. Greg Ostrander would move all-in with 8's, only to have David Peters move all-in with J's and finally Steve Fiorentini call with K's. The board assisted nobody and the final table would be down to 8 to start on Monday, with Steve enjoying a comfortable chip lead. It took over 2 hours before the first player would be eliminated and once again there were 2 departing from one hand. Ryan Eriquezzo would raise to 9k only to be raised all-in by Robert McLaughlin of Washington, DC, and called all-in by Bernard Lee of Wayland, MA. Ryan quickly called and showed A's while Robert had Q's and Bernard showed AcKc. The board helped nobody and Bernard would settle for 8th and $8,555 while Robert would take $9,981 for 7th.

A little over an hour would pass before Kevin Marcotte, a resident of Mason, OH would call all-in with A/Q only to see A/K from Ryan. The flop gave Ryan K's and provided no further help for Kevin leaving him in 6th position for $11,408.

Steve Fiorentini would move all-in with his last 97k with K/10, and was called by then chip leader, David with A/K. The board came-out A/2/9/6/10, relegating Steve to the fifth spot and earning him $14,259 to take back home to Lexington, MA.

Michael Glasser of Plantation, FL, started the final table as the short stack, and managed to hold on while maintaining that position until he moved all-in with Ad2d and ran into David with Kh8h. The flop was 6h7h2c… the turn was the 9h giving David the flush and Michael 4th place and $19,962.

Ryan Eriquezzo would raise the BB 20k only to be raised to 100k by David. Ryan then raised all-in with A/7 and was called by David with 8's. The board (Q/9/2/9/10) was no help to Ryan as he would head back to New Haven, CT with $25,666 for 3rd place.

The final two had David with a 5 to 1 chip advantage over Carl Restifo of New Rochelle, NY. After a few hands, Carl would finally call David's all-in with A/3 to David's A/10. The board came-out A/6/7/9/Q, and Carl would finish 2nd, earning $49,907 for his efforts. While David Einhorn would become the winner of the 2008 Foxwoods World Poker Finals $3000 No-Limit Championship!
