| Frenchman Alain Roy won the Partouche Poker Tour (PPT) no-limit hold'em Main
Event in Cannes France yesterday September 7, besting a field of 480 players
to win the Euros 1 Million (about USD $ 1,419,868, or GBP 807,271)
first-place prize.
The 4-day event, that featured a huge prize pool worth Euros 3.2 million in
just its first year, was held at the prestigious Palm Beach Casino.
The Euro 8,500 buy-in PPT Main Event began September 3rd with two day-one
flights. Play continued until a final table of eight were reached on day 3,
with Gus Hansen just missing the final table, to finish in ninth place.
Going into the Main Event Final Table, the players and chip counts were:

The final eight played down until only Roy and Swiss Claudio Rinaldi
remained. Roy went on to defeat Rinaldi in a Heads Up to become champion. |
